US Airways Announces New Routes

The Bean Counters are going to cut flights out of TUS do to lack of growth! LOL (full full full)   Dam they just might not be that smart!!!!
For those Bean Counters, I can eat some beans before my next flight, I'll inflate their numbers.

It amazes me that we don't do more service from TUS. Every flight in and out of there is full. It doesn't matter what day of the week or time of the day...full, full, full. I've taken to simply driving instead of even trying to non-rev there out of PHX. We really could use one non-stop a day to an east city (CLT or PHL). I am sure it would do well.
"Full, full, full!!!!!!" That means nothing people! When are you going to get it? Filling a flight does not yield a profit.
I just have to laugh.

Well, the March issue of the Las Vegas Advertisement Magazine still shows FLL as a focus city.

Well the April magazine has FLL back to a little yellow dot. No more focus city. The magazine has more Arizona and Vegas advertising than ever though. I understand it's all management knows but we do have a whole country and Europe that we serve. Not everyone likes Arizona and Nevada. Honestly, the magazine is stupid. How about the Vegas apartment ads. Highrise studios starting in the low 500's. Um we're a cheapo airline advertising for million dollar condo's. Something off balance here?

And US does vacation packages for the Bellagio. They must not know that US does that. It devalues the Hotel. I hate to see that Greyhound bus pull up in front.

Just wishful thinking on the routes. Too many of them need to be implemented. The only bad route would be Harrisburg-Las Vegas, and I believe that route would be ok for 3-4 days a week, just not daily.

Actually I think it would be filled six days a week. A while back a scheduled charter filled their planes from ABE to LAS (essentially similar market to MDT)on nearly daily basis. Whole airline couldn't stand the increase in fuel last year and folded, but with reasonable prices and lower fuel costs would have made money with just O&D and no connections.

Actually I don't know why they don't fly a redeye from LAS to MDT or ABE. Instead of the morning 319 at 8:30AM which now flys to CLT from each city, have it take off at 6 AM to PHX to connect with everything in the west with the 10AM bank there. The LAS flight could be used to fly onto CLT. That would be a better use of aircraft.

I wish they would return to Reading. We are the fastest growing area in the state. They put Air Midwest in here before and that is when they started to lose customers. It must be spreading.

OK, I have to ask.... WHO CARES if Vegas and Phoenix are the major ad suppliers in the magazine??? The magazine does not pick advertisers based on where we fly. Does it not stand to reason that since Vega$ is America's Adult Playground, they would have a ton of ads? Not so much to advertise in the CLT or PIT areas, in comparison. As long as they are paying to advertise in the magazine, thus creating revenue, I say again, WHO CARES?

US Airways and Greyhound Lines, Inc. Merge to Provide Better Service for Stranded Airline Customers

TEMPE, Ariz., April 1, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- US Airways Group (NYSE: LCC) President Scott Kirby announced today that it has merged with Greyhound Lines, Inc. to provide the maximum services to its airline customers. Kirby states "Due to the recent meltdown events caused by our reservations system migration, we have merged with Greyhound to make sure that our stranded customers will arrive at their final destinations, when US Airways experiences frequent service failures".

CEO W. Douglas Parker was elated that this bond was formed as the airline was hard pressed recently during a “freak noreaster ice stormâ€￾ which caused 100,000 customers to become stranded. “At least now, we can fully provide the services which our customers expect and deserve. Customers will now surely arrive within seven days of their scheduled US Airways arrival, with fewer disruptionsâ€￾, said Parker.

The new service will begin on June 1, 2007 just in time for the summer thunderstorm season.

Founded in 1914, Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, serving more than 3,100 destinations with 16,000 daily departures across North America. It has become an American icon, providing safe, enjoyable and affordable travel to 22 million passengers each year. The Greyhound running dog is one of the most-recognized brands in the world.

US Airways is the fifth largest domestic airline employing more than 35,000 aviation professionals worldwide. US Airways, US Airways Shuttle and US Airways Express operate approximately 3,800 flights per day and serve more than 230 communities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. The new US Airways -- the product of a merger between America West and US Airways in September 2005 -- is a member of the Star Alliance network, which offers our customers 16,000 daily flights to 855 destinations in 155 countries worldwide. True but it's a bit much. New York isn't a tourist city? Boston for young folks, Miami for that matter. Vegas is awesome. I lived there but it's a west coast magagine. Period.

But what difference does it make if the companies are PAYING for the ads??? The magazine itself has many stories from all over the USA each month..... What difference does it make if they advertise a condo or casino in Vegas or Atlantic City?

It honestly doesn't matter really. Nothing really matters anymore. It's just funny that we merge with America west and all of the sudden the majority of the advertising in the magazine revolves around the west when our airline spans the entire country along with Europe, mexico, central american and the carribean. A little heavy the west. It's EVERY month too.
