d to fly to China. Bash Tempe for not leasing A340s as planned, but my guess is that they know they can not profitably fly that plane on the route for the next 7 years with fuel prices at these astronomical levels.

Many keep forgetting that profit is the difference between revenue and costs. It really does not matter the cost if the revenue provides the desired difference, profit. In a monopoly like PHL-PEK, one's competition would be scheduled one-stops and therefore a premium would be expected. I would hope reliability would be high on the Tempe list for such an operation. The marginal operation they run now is pathetic.

I cannot imagine why anyone would want Europe-PHX over LAS and even with LAS the competition would make it rather low yield even in the best of circumstances.

There was some talk going around on one of these boards that US was returning two 767 later this year (in the future). Dont recall where I saw it though.
