$100 in the Bag! US Employees Deliver Top-Three Rankings in Mishandled Baggage and On-Time Performance!

Dear Fellow Employee:

US Airways’ 33,000 employees have been swinging for the fences and all that hard work paid off as we hit a DOUBLE in July, which means $100 in pocket for all eligible employees! The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) July Report issued earlier today shows we had top-three finishes in on-time performance and baggage: Our first repeat of last August’s double payout!

Our bag performance was nothing short of spectacular. With a ratio of just 2.75 mishandlings per 1,000 passengers, US Airways ranked second only to AirTran. We have had an MBR of less than 3.00 four months in a row, and in July, we set yet another record low. Our number two ranking is also the best we’ve had since the US Airways – America West merger in 2005.

The last time we were in the top three for MBRs (Aug. 2008), our ratio was 4.09 and the number one airline for the same month had a ratio of 2.92. So while the whole industry has improved as a result of fewer checked bags due to bag fees, better tools and processes have allowed US to improve more than the industry as a whole.

In July, we departed on time 70.2 percent of the time, exceeding our goal of 70 percent. When we depart on-time, everything else follows, leading to a July A14 of 80.6 percent, our second-best performance this year. We ranked behind Alaska and Southwest and ahead of all of our network competitors. Delivering this level of reliability to our customers in the face of challenging summer weather and high load factors is something we should all take pride in. ...

...That wraps it up for July. We’ve had an amazing year so far, and I’m so proud of our results. The last time we had a double payout was August 2008, and this is our first payout for baggage performance in 2009. Watch for the payout to hit paychecks either Sept. 18, 25 or 30, depending on your work group. Keep up the great work!

Nice job all!

Complaints contiunued to show improvement also. Passed Delta and American and only a handful of compliants away from United. YOY improved from 109 to 55. If this year long trend of improving continues we will be in the top 3 in this cat. by mid next year.

Also interesting was chronic late flights. (Flights late 70% of the time).
US had zero, compared to SWA-26, Delta-11, AA-10, NW-6.

Nice job by all, and nice to see that summer meltdown never happened.

 to $100 smackers!

And still Apples and Oranges, other carries Express ops are also not included! Go find something else to complain about. This is about Mainline US operations performance vs AOLs mainline, but of course you know that.

Piney you also completely miss the point. We are not compairing Comair, Mesaba and American Eagle either!
