US FA's Stapled to the Bottom

For a group that is supposedly so "tough," y'all sure do a lot of whining. Just check out the different airline forums on USAviation. LCC is the smallest of AA/UA/DL/NW/CO, yet has the most whining by far.

And here you are, contributing! Isn't it kind of lamer still when you do it?

You guys continue to whine about how US Airways and how popular the message board is... on the US Airways message board.

Jeez! For crying out loud, what is this fascination/obsession you folks from other airlines have always had with US Airways? We're small and insignificant and don't matter, remember? The rest of you are big and fabulous and important. You ARE the industry. Fine, whatever. So why in the world do you exert the effort it takes to click your mouse and come onto the lowly US message boards and read the comments, much less post your own? For an airline that nobody likes, wants or cares about, we sure do seem to have a lot of people spending an inordinate amount of their very important time worrying about us. What's up with THAT?

Heads up for the Bear. She has always been anti east anything. It's amazing...sigh...

SOOOO, since you are an AFA member in the middle of a merger with another AFA carrier, you should be more than familiar with AFA merger by-laws, familiar enough to not post inflammatory and stupid bait on the board. I'm not sure who is worse, the fear mongering fool who told you or you for running with it and causing ten pages of drama...

What's kind of funny is that if you really think that USAPA can impose seniority in a contract, then United's FAs could use their majority to do the same thing.

Irony alert at 11!

I'd hardly think it would be worth it for the sake of the small US F/A group. If we are only talking about east it's a group of 5000, if west is included that's another 2000. Back in 2000 it was a much larger east group of 11,000 F/As. I don't think anyone gives two sh*ts except the dozen members of the "I Hate US Airways Club" who post on here.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the issue of US Airways wholly owned flight attendants, whether they will be incorporated onto the mainline list (they number just under 1000) or whether the W/Os would be sold off.

EMBFA, I was just posting because it's what I heard. I had a simple question and I was looking for a simple answer. I got that, and people just ran with it. And, don't pretend like my post caused drama. That's all this forum is... drama and rumors.

Why?

Are they not operating under the AFA CB&L, which prohibits such a scenario that you present?

Please read basic union and law stuff. It is kind of embarrassing about your lack of knowledge.

Clue's entire point went completely over your head. 😀

Everyone knows (including ClueByFour) that you can't neutralize an arbitration decision you don't like simply by voting in a new union, yet there are pilots out there who think they can. B)

Look, this thread is basically pointless. IF there is a merger with UA then stapling within the FA group isn't going to happen. Now, if there were a merger with CO or AA then who knows how it would pan out since they are not AFA, but we pretty much know that at this time that CO will not be merging with anyone so we can let that go too.

USWESTGUY, thanks for at least inquiring about what you "heard" and trying to dispell the rumor. I can pretty much understand you not knowing the C&BL's since you say you are pretty new to the industry. I do however have to say that it does amaze me the amount of people that are so unfamiliar with the union out in PHX, and it's not only the more junior folks but the senior to mid-level as well. As an example back in 2004 when ATA was in the middle of a bidding war between AirTran, AWA, and Southwest and it was looking like they were going to go with AWA there so many senior and mid-level AWA flight attendants that were swearing on the bible that the ATA flight attendants were going to be stapled to the bottom. Then again when the merger between US/AWA came about shortly after it was the same thing, the US flight attendants should/are going to get stapled. I'm sorry but if you expect the union to protect you and your job you should at least have some understanding of what their purpose is.

Now when it comes to the pilots that is a whole other can of worms. I think at this point that ALL of them need to have a good talking to!! Why could no one be a grown up and try to find some real solutions that would've really been FAIR?? DOH wasn't in the CBL anymore so DOH wasn't going to work, essentially it would've been stapling the majority of AWA pilots, however on the other hand putting someone that started in 1988 under someone that was hired in 2003 or 2004 is completely ridiculus as well and neither scenerio should be playing out!!

That is not what I was responding to.

UAL to US would be the same Flight Attendant union, one that is quite specific about how a merge would look, correct? Changing how the merged FAs were ordered would require the mother-ship get involved in order to change the CB&L, correct?

I think you and by-four are comparing apples to oranges by attempting to imply UAL FAs can vote to staple the US people.

Now, as to your comment about the pilots, time will tell 🙂
