US lose out Again

Wow, you guys are right: I hadn't seen it before, but now I see that we out here in PHX just don't have a clue as to how to run an airline.

Now let me make sure I'm understanding your argument correctly: DL has consistently posted losses in the billions, that billions with a big, fat b kids, for the past 4 years, and one quarter was $3b all by itself. Their grand pre-BK business plan was to put US out of business, which having failed they entered BK themselves. Then they decided to take planes out of stronghold cities (just like you're suggesting US is doing), and send them into the now oversaturated cross-pond market where they can lose even more money. So then DL's big brain power trust has a too-big BOS terminal that they can't utilize and are paying a lot of money on and start adding RJ flights (that nobody on this board, as best I can tell, wants) on low-yield markets like BNA. And it's a whopping once daily flight! Is that what you want us to do?

Gee, I had never thought of this before, but gosh, I guess we should start matching DL tit-for-tat, because we're just not losing enough money.

Well, there goes my department's new project of working to shutter all the East Coast fortress cities and planning all of the new service out of PHX and LAS... I guess we'll be working to build our ATL, MCO, CVG, SLC, and JFK markets. 🙄 We sure do appreciate your brilliant suggestion, though.

your sarcasm notwithstanding, moron, what new service has the new, combined u announced from said hubs?
you choose to ridicule delta, yet, you neglect to fill the void. and, by the way, their european expansion is innovative and the markets they have chosen to serve as non-stop destinations are far, far, far from being saturated! i can see how the uncritical mind would choose to not see that, and, as such, i cut you a lot of slack...
this management team does not have the level of experience it needs to steer a global carrier to profitability. and, to be sure, that will be our demise.
i'll see you in the unemployment line, oh enlightened defender of the idiots.

By all means, then, please, please, please come out and save the airline with all your brilliant ideas, super- manager-wannabe-in-training-Monday-morning-quarterback. Is superstewardess your sister?

Yes, the management team has to gain the trust of employees, and maybe they haven't done that yet with the East employees. But I haven't seen anything done by them that deserve attacks either.

you choose not to answer my question(s)? i wonder why?!? is it because such innovation does not and cannot exist among the minds that navigate this new, combined airline?
and, yes, to be sure, most could do a lot better job running this airline. it is not difficult to say: "just wait..."

you choose not to answer my question(s)? i wonder why?!?

I'll tell you: I choose not to answer the questions of those who instigate personal attacks on morons. And there are plenty of things I simply can't post here. I enjoy my job too much.

ironic that you choose to utilize the signature quote that accompanys everything that comes out of your odious mouth. because, that quote IS our management team!!!
enjoy your job all day long, my friend. because, it aint going to last long...because you choose to believe what you are telling yourself is true!

When will we change direction?

There's really no way to know, but if you don't like the current direction then it's time to move on. I, for one, don't agree with the current direction, either, hence my signature line. However, to say that we should be doing what DL is doing is asking for suicide.

ok you guys all sound like a bunch of freakin imature idiots!! give the new company some gd time and stop finger pointing so much!! i am an east employee and yes i am eager to see this company succeed . but it's not going to happen overnight!!! east stop blaming the west and west stop blaming the east. we are all usairways now . stop dividing things!! we are not competitors. we are co-workers. we all work for the same company. delta going to bna from bos has nothing to do with usairways and should not be considered a huge threat to us. big woop.
give the management some time to try to run things. beleive me they are trying. employee morale has improved by far. things have been improving in phl . and there much more open communication between management and employees. we are in the know with alot of things that is going on. take a chill pill and relax. if you don't like the way things are going or if it's just taking a little bit longer than you expected there is always other opportunities elsewhere. also if you think that doug is doing such a crappy job running this airline. let him know. his e-mail address is douglas.parker@usairways.com. i am sure he will respond to you . he always does whether or not it is negative or positive. or e-mail your concern to merger@usairways.com and they will totally respond to you . in other words, stop bi#ching and moaning on this message board and let your voice be heard by taking it straight to the top or else keep a lid on it and ride the wave. peace.

Sound like BuffaloJoe wants to kept his job and wants management not to lay down and give the market up to DL like management has in the past
Trust me on this DL has no idea what they are doing. If anything their recent moves have done nothing but make them gush money. They have their backs to the wall with a huge terminal with high debt payments and nowhere to fly. Chasing market share has done nothing for their bottom line. Delta is notorious for being a market share hound. Need I mention their China office. 🙄

I would like to see US add an MCO-ABE flight like they used to have. i dont know if they will or not.

The 2B is all we're gonna get and it has to be used wisely. US is in no position to speculate on markets or be goaded into beginning service just because a competitor has. The 2B has to be used to rebuild a long-neglected east and combine two very different airlines. I would expect that there would be a reinforcing of what we already have by providing service which is a good value. Not fancy, not el-cheapo but a good value. This will establish US in the market as a formidable competitor to WN and whatever shakes out of the bankruptcy tree. Then when this is solid and on it's feet, you can expect some expansion.

We're building a race car out of what's useable from two demolition derby entries plus a lot of money. We're not going to use the 2B to put gas in the wrecks and see how they do.
