Just keep telling them it's easy.. BTW, you might want to familiarize them with the ASAP program.
Never said it was easy. Displaced members should not be treated as inferior and that you as a union member should accept, help, and show them the ropes. I suppose you walked in the door at your first A&P line jobs instantly trained. Someone showed you the job and how it's done, the pitfalls, and the best way to do something.

You are wishing them harm

I tell you exactly how it's done - when an A&P can't do their job, is afraid to get dirty, or just plain lazy, just have the CC, soupervisor, or manager call Tool & Die.

I am strictly talking about money and we now voted away our rights to just about everything else. We are better than delta by the slimmest of margins. In the near future we will see how much better we are than delta.

Exactly...So what are the benefits of keeping a union on the property if we are only better than Delta by the slimmest of margins...maybe even JetBlue for that matter?

Not looking for an argument here, but since we seem to be worse off than every other carrier, mechanic pay/benefits/workr rule wise, then maybe we should go non union....and let each man fend for himself?

Wait until alot of general A&P mechanics have to start doing more avionics work on the line........

The company would never allow that - the employees pay the union through dues to do many functions the company would otherwise have to staff itself.

Possibly. And why would they want to rid themselves of a lap dog union?

So? Most of us only have a driver's license. We aren't "qualified".

Not the point I was making in my response.
What I am saying is that on top of everything else discussed here about the new contract, with morale where it is, mechanics now having to do what they have been accustomed to NOT doing is going to be quite an adjustment.
I believe a mechanics should do it ALL,,,,,,Airframe & Powerplant....you know as our license states.

Are we not doing that?

First I want to apologize to the other locals that voted this p.o.s down, and I am proud to be part of the 26% no voters. I am ashamed, embarrassed, and totally nauseated to be in the twu514 and to have read some of the comments coming out of twu514 is plain rude. I know people have to vote whats best for them and their family, but on my dock and its probably like this all over the base a lot of these yes voters are coming from people who aren't worth what there getting paid now and there is absolutely no accountability coming from the union or management...very sad. I am simply shocked how many yes votes that came out 514 and the fact that they can stand and walk around, being they have no backbone, and the ones who could not find the time to vote for something so important... amazing, I guess this doesn't concern you. I will make one comment about the line that bothers me, this should not be a line vs o/h issue and just because other airlines outsource their heavy maintenance does not make it right, and in my opinion for what its worth, should be criminal if done on foreign soil .... do you deserve geo pay, absolutely... I am not your enemy and will be a asset if I ever get out to the line .... just remember were all amt's "way past time for change" amfa = the only true craft union

Its time for the 50 percent of NO VOTERS to go on check off status. Maybe we can bankrupt the twu out of AA just a thought...

Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and consciencious stupidity.

Back to what I said, Mr. H - all they'll have to do is whine and the call to Tool & Die will be made. God forbid somebody has to do their job.

Some years back, I saw a listing that showed how much of Tooling's work was farmed out so we'd have more time to spend working aircraft - it was amazing. With everone doing someone else's job, it's absolutely amazing this company lasted as long as it did before now - ie, it truely made money in spite of itself and the seeds are now being planted to return to that mode of operation sometime next year.

... and as far as your beliefs re: an A&P doing it all - I was a Navy ADJ and was expected to deal with anything on an aircraft needing attention. "Not my job" wasn't tolerated very well by the Goat Locker residents in 1971.
