What's new

Voted IN

While the LBO1, and 2 where being pushed down our throats, Delta gave their AMT's a raise July 1, 2012 and another one is scheduled jan 1, 2013. Non-union mechanics get a better deal and they did not have to beg for it. How can the TWU organize anybody with our track record?
We give up concessions and lower the bar for other unions to face with in their negotiations now. What would be our selling point for people to join a concessionary union?
anyone chime in and give me the TWU AFL/CiO pitch but give me the facts about how theTWU does so great for its AA members.
it should be an embarrassment that a vote passes by 50.25%.
half your members are outright against it and how many more voted out of fear, uninformed, and not understanding how this contract will really effect you.
we all will see very shortly as the company just manhandles the TWU and the members with the language written and yet to be written in this passed LBO2.
the only grievance we will have left is a termination grievance!

you were warned

Chuck,

Not too loud now. You might hurt the feelings of sell outs like gordon clark who is a twu union organizer.

A few of the OSM's I collected AMFA cards from today did not know that job protection/security was omitted from our contract, I'm guessing they voted yes on the fear factor, because the info was out their on the sevarity of losing art 42. None the less we explained what just happened and they all signed. So many young mechanics put trust into the lies these twu stooges spread, they turn a blind eye to the facts.

Sure you did Odie. "A few". Go get em'!

Wait until alot of general A&P mechanics have to start doing more avionics work on the line........

Been there and done it. Still spark chase. I spent a month in class in DFW for a reason. I would do it again if they asked.

Has anyone noticed in article 46, the One Station Agreement that ISP(islip) has been included in the NY agreement? Has ISP always been included in that? I thought it was just JFK, LGA and EWR. If ISP is new to this agreement, could this be a clue as to who AA might be merging with? Im not sure who flys in and out of Islip other then SouthWest.

I believe it always has been because AA did fly out of there years ago and then handed it over to SWA.

So have I and so will I..

But when people are conditioned for years, even decades, into either not doing something or doing something, they are going to have a harder time adjusting. Especially if they are older and set in their ways. And they will get sent to a class here and there and when they can't perform like seasoned avionics mechanics, well, you know what's gonna happen.........

Maybe if our union long ago encouraged mechanics to "do it all" with no restrictions in past contracts, we could've UPPED our worth way back when.

Doing it all is a broad spectrum. Sheet metal repairs (major), Composite repairs, Welding is a few that come to mind that better be left to the guys that specialize in that area.
It is easy to screw up a repair and end up wasting time and money.

Sure, welding and hot bond, major structural repair and mods, etc. should be kept specialized...But systems, airframe, electrical, electronic ...no need to.
Does one need to be a specialized sheetmetal/structual mechanic to shoot a cherry max rivet out on the line?

Sadly, there are quite a few mechanics who don't know where to start..hence the tech crew chiefs to the rescue.

I've seen guys who don't know how to replace a nut plate, drill a screw out or even know what a cherry max is

And we have Avionics guys in the shop that can only change light bulbs and can't read wiring diagrams and can't troubleshoot.
Union job! Out in the real world guys like that get weeded out.
