I guess you forgot what happened on Tuesday. He did not make any concessions to get reelected. Romney made massive concessions (flip flops) to try and it failed. The Democrats also added seats to the Majority in the Senate.
I am very happy to know that you will never be one of those negotiating.
Across the board cuts are just plain dumb. There are plenty of programs out there that should cut, trimmed, or eliminated. Across the board cuts also cut the programs that are the most successful...in the military and domestically.
I liken it to a good tree pruning in the fall to allow new growth next spring. You don't do that by cutting it off a few feet from the ground and hope for the best.

HOWEVER, The thought of REPUG congressmen(up for re-election in 14') having to face thier folks back home, for voting to RAISE thier TAXES is too good to pass up.
By my count, in 14' we need to flip a mere (low)20 seats to get RID of thier majority !
