Ways to generate revenue...

No one should even be responding to this thread and here is why. Before the merger we had contests at HP: Ideas that Fly. We submit ideas that would save the company money$$$. Winners receive positive space tickets of their choice. In a recent issue of the US Weekly I think someone asked in the Q&A why don't we do this program again their response was costs too much money to run the program. Since we know corporate reads this.... DON'T GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS!!! Employees feel engaged when their opinions are valued. Obviously US doesn't value our opinions. Tell me if I'm wrong Morgan?
I'm really confused here because US management is now mostly HP management so why are you blaming everything on US? It's the same people that sponsored your program to begin with.

And not putting ideas out here because Corporate reads this? What a childish post.

Things we can do to make revenue:

1) Sell adaptors so people can use their own single prong headsets on our double prong headphone jacks.

2) Service charge for ordering special meals. (Kosher, vegetarian, Asian vegetarian, kosher Asian non lactose vegetarian..., etc. (It’s a game; they only want it if you don't have it!)

Good ideas, but the way your leadership thinks, they'll never happen.

3) Match Southwest's boarding system. Charge extra to be in group "A", groups B & C get what's left.

Isn't that called "Choice Seats"?

Ok, I'm not an airline employee, but if I were your CEO, I would never consider $30 for non rev. I would in the perfect world if there weren't so many displaced workers out there. As a passenger, I think that the airline employees have given back a lot. If morale is bad now, can you imagine what it would be like when virtually the only benefit that is left is taken away? Now is the time to try to find ways to run the operation more efficiently - not nickel and dime the employees and the passengers. like someone said earlier in this thread. Add value to the product...

I also gave an alternative of paying to get a better priority. This would still allow people to fly for free but allow other to get a better priority if they really needed to get on a plane.

Pardon me for asking, but how many flights are needing to take volunteers or having to resort to denied boarding compensation? Whatever percentage is left, less those that go at 100% capacity, are the few seats available for this privilege of working in this industry and part of the rationale for already low pay....

I agree with someone who said charge for non-revs. Too many of our employees jump a flight to have dinner in SFO.
Sure it's a great benifit, but people abuse it. Why add weight to the airplane just to eat and add weight to yourself.

Charge a nominal $30 charge. It won't hurt the employees, it'll help the bottom line and it'll keep people from just hopping around for no reason.

Or start them off at SA7P and for $20 dollars move up to an SA3P and for $20 more an SA2P.

Perfect, it sounds like your idea is extremely unpoplular and would do nothing but antagonize, degrade and lower the morale of the employees at this company. For suggesting this you get to call Tempe find out your start date, pick out your office and it looks like you will fit in perfectly at The Sand Castle.

"The Sandcastle" Is that some kind of degrading remark about corporate? Sounds like your morale is already at a low.
You might want to find a job that pays more or one that makes you happy if that's at all possible.
No need to call. I'm already there and very comfortable.

I think that this person does work at The Sand Castle. Per prior posts this person was with HP since the early 90's and reading between the lines and the various topics, my best guess is Sand Castle.

BTW, the term Sand Castle was coined by passengers from the old US Airways. I think it was Ffocus folks, but definately passengers of the old US Airways.

It would kill all of us junior reserves who commute and who make $1100 a month. If they charged $30 per flight, we would be paying anywhere between $240-$300 per month. Many cannot even afford to eat, let alone pay to go to work. We would all quit and we would have f/as with 20+ years seniority on reserve being quick called at midnight for a transatlantic flight and at all hours of the day and night since they would be the "junior" flight attendants. They would only be flying 30 hours a month unless they did ETB trips because the greedy senior BHs would all fly 150+ hours each month leaving nothing for the rest of the flight attendants on reserve. Hmmmm. Maybe it's not such a bad idea afterall. JK

To PHL BULL! I know you're on here! Paying $30 would be terrible news for you because if all of us puke junior reserves left, you would suddenly become one of us flying 30 hours a month!   How would you ever be able to afford all those cheesesteaks? Boohoo! Oh, and honey, forget about me ever bringing you some good 'ol sweet tea from the South. I guess you would have to wait until you get a trip with a CLT overnight and you know how it is on reserve - the pickins are slim.

If you all think we have some disgruntled flight attendants now, wait until they start charging them to commute. Then you will really see what it's like to have a mean f/a.

charge for pillow&blanket...that way the pax will take the nasty things with them and f/a's will not have to deal with them...I am sure Target Bed Bath or somone would put there logo on it to make a $...our flight bennies are the only true perk we have left to start charging for them would open a whole nother can of worms...

That's actually a good idea. I totally agree, even if it did come from PHL BULL. I can't believe I am openly admitting that I agree with him. 😛h34r:
It must be the cheesesteaks talking.
