i'll keep it short and simple

Why don't we have our unions get together and pick a day and time and have members from ALL the work groups who have something to say to HQ , come out and protest together ?

Because your unions want this pathetic management to be their friends.

If they had the balls to stand together this mess would not exist.

I have a better idea. Why not pick a day & all call in sick.

That is not necessary nor is it legal.

If everyone just did their own job instead of doing things they were not trained for or paid for each employee would be safer, less stressed, and more efficient at what they were hired to do. It is not about being reactionary to things you don't like. It is about doing what you have been trained to do and doing it safely and efficiently for the bennefit of the passengers.

Passengers aren't stupid. They can identify were a problem is. There is no need to give them a reason to suspect the employees.

Since we arent going to get a hattrick for fewest complaints any time soon, when you give out Consumer Affairs address, be sure to include the DOT address. Until the numbers really tank, nothing is going to get done. Probably could have had about 100 or so write letters tonight after waiting in lines for up to 5 hours. Sure it was a bizarre day with the weather, but things still arent up to par on a normal day.

Just filed my first DOT complaint.....what an invigorating feeling!!

Here's an idea.
Have all the labor groups form a coalition to "Promote" how upset we are with the company...
Pooling the resourses of ALPA, AFA, IAM, CWA, and Transport Workers Unions could make a bolder statement than sick outs. Picketing is effective... Public Ads in National Newspaters is more effective... You shouldn't take out your frustration on the people who help pay your paycheck.

Just my opinion...

Actually, thats a very good idea. If the unions really want to represent the best interest of their members, they would get together and form a coalition. This coalition could then informally represent all union employees to senior management concerning operational deficiencies. If management is not responsive then they could lobby the board of director and major investor with the deficiencies. I am not talking about our contract issues but about the true state of the operation of the company. If the unions can unite and approach the BOD with concerns that threaten the future success or ultimate failure of the company, they are going to listen. If we talk about contact issues, it becomes so much noise and will continue to be ignored by the BOD.

Why not just quit. That will show them you mean it.

I agree, quit and relieve the rest of us from your piss-poor attitudes. If you think stuff sucks so much, make some changes. Apply to be a supervisor...or manager.

Is a formal protest needed that just brings down fines etc.?

Just look @ operations the last 2 days with a lot of folk doing "Just my job". Appears all that is needed to prove the point it is advantageous to have employee groups motivated to give all thier efforts.

Of course this Mgt "talks the talk" that these things are normal in contract negotiations. Oh well....

The problem with doing "just my job" is that it hurts customers. I saw quite a bit of "just my job" on Wednesday in Charlotte, which surprised me to be honest--I mean it was bad when a customer went up to a gate agent and asked what gate a flight was leaving from and the gate agent just said, "that's what those monitors over there are for".

My boss was also treated rudely by a gate agent on Wednesday just trying to change a seat. The agent wasn't doing anything else, and I later found that other seats were available, but the agent just didn't want to do it--so what did my boss say to me the next morning? "I'll never fly US again".

One person doesn't matter that much, but multiply it by a few thousand and it adds up.

We have taken an informal poll of FFOCUS members, and we have discovered that there is almost $5 million in annual business ready to walk out the door.......

Food for thought eh?
