What's new

What's up with "video Bob" from NY?

Bob, You really didn't need to waste the bandwidth with this post and could have directed me to LM 10 to make your point. Your efforts still fall short of my question, "What are we gonna gain with a NO vote?"

Somebody's gonna lose with a no vote Bob!

Guess you missed the part about more concessions.

No. I understand the part about losing more. I'm beyond emotion now, show me where I'm wrong "Hopeful", convince me not to vote YES on this TA...

Convince you? I believe people should make an educated vote. How much more information do you need after this board and past boards have educated many on the flaws in negotiations and the concessionary contracts present and the past. Can you guarentee me that this contract will not result in layoffs, future decreased benefits or increases that will lower my net income from AA? Tell me why I should blindly vote yes on open ended contract language? Convince me that this contract will be beneficial now and in the future!

Chuck, I'm sure you can read for yourself what the proposal offers just like I can. Do I think rejecting it will bring us anything better? NO. I don't believe so. I will be voting yes...

Not a question about right or wrong. It's about giving this company everything they wanted without the benefit of bankruptcy. One thing I will say for sure it that the bases have the most to lose with this TA. Creating a new classification which earns way less than a current A&P should be worrisome for all.
Within years, they will hire enough to max out and then next contract they will further the divide and conquer strategy to use those votes PLUS the ones who vote yes on this one to finish everyone off.
For a couple of bucks they will eliminate the pension for everyone, no prefunding medical for anyone and the TWU in charge of a VEBA...ALA the UAW...
The concessionary packed TA will seal the doom for every mechanic out there.

Just remember that the 2003 concessions where we gave back billions from all employees was supposed to avoid layoffs....We all know how that turned out.

One big reason to vote NO, is to not throw the people younger than 50 under the bus. The difference in retiree medical for the under 50 and 50 and over is unacceptable.

Sick Leave language...

You will be giving up license pay or any other premium pay when you call in sick. If I were to call in sick for three days I'd be out $120.

Went to www.twu514.org and saw Mr. "I'm going to give you the facts and let you decide", shamelessly pushing the contract and using fear and intimidation to secure yes votes from 514 sheep. Different story after the election than before. Wondering if he's shooting for International position or Management position. Either which way they're about the same thing. One hand washes the other.

It's not about getting more-it's about keeping what we got and not giving anymore away.
This company is about to make a lot of money. The Pilots know that and so do the Flt. Attendants.

There are so many "got ya's" in this open ended TA. It will be riddled with "they can do that" down the road and the members will be blamed for voting it in. Same playbook, history is repeating itself and with the same coaches.

I'm surprised you even have to argue voting against it. The language is horrible plus it guarantees several more years of bottom feeding. The TWU may be sealing their own fate if this passes and a merger happens where the mechanics have a choice.

The problem for you and getting out a no vote is that your work group probably doesn't have time to be educated. Otherwise, they would all be voting no since an educated man could not possibly vote for this.

This T/A is bad in so many ways that there is no question in my mind how to vote. To those out there considering voting yes - I understand the temptation; however, consider the downside before you do. We have waited a long time already - whats a few more months going to hurt? The mediator is just waiting to see how serious we are about really wanting a better contract, and this T/A is the test.

AA just ordered 35 more 737 800s. They can't hide the profits forever. A little more patience on getting a better contract will be worth it...

Voting yes is certainly an option for everyone but -

Why is Luis and other TWU Officers (anyone you know?) pushing the adoption of further concessions? Is acceptance of this TA the determining factor of Luis receiving a better International appointment from Little? The sorry SOB needs to go back to his job and face those daily who voted for him.

There is far too much activity behind the scenes for me to vote for this hot and steaming pile. While there are some areas I do like, others are open-ended. AMR has just about run out of poverty producing write-offs and soon will begin making money - it appears the job of the TWU is getting this sold so those who "worked so hard on the sale" can get their "rewards" and the workers are stuck with another three year concessionary contract.

Let them sell the overhaul business if that's what Horton wants to do - maybe we'll be able to rid ourselves of the damnable TWU in the process.

We can get a crappy deal like this for free from the company.

Not sticking up for the TA but this statement is false, read Art 2 Definitions, "Base Pay" is defined as including all premiums and differentials.

Im thinking you read the blurb in 34 and took that to mean just the base chart rate.

Bob, I believe you hit a nerve with Steve-O and his minions :
