Why do the non PIT people have such strong opinions?

Thank you Jamake. Rational, intelligent post- which will be seen as bashing the city, jealously that you don't live/domicile there, or participation in a grave conspiracy and cover up.

Actually, the difference between his post and any of yours is the "rational, intelligent" aspects. It's not a conspiracy--he's that much smarter.

Please list my irrational, unintelligent statements regarding this issue.

All of your posts seem to be more about me and less about PIT.

<_< How can you compare Southwest to USAirways?

Southwest has how many flights out of Pittsburgh? USAirways had how many?

Maybe if USAirways had the same amount of flights as Southwest did, they might be profitable also.

 Close pittsburgh down...

I don't know why people think Pittsburgh means anything to the world. You have a nice pretty terminal, good for you: Philadelphia, Pheonix, Charlotte, DC, and Las Vegas have higher O&D...

You sir seem to be hell bent on representing PIT in the worst possible light.

Bash the post not the poster.

More intelligent posts like this would only seem to cement a bad reputation.

PIT for many represents the mistakes of the past, the legacy of Ed Colodny who saw the industry pass him by in the late 80's and ordered F100's and bet the farm on the PIT hub. It's a symbol of the failures of this company over the past 20 years. It's nothing personal; PIT in it's heyday was a wonderful hub and a great place to commute to. No delays, no messing with New York Center, plenty of space on the ramp. And many great, great people that I met and worked with there.

I have never been to or thru PIT. Can't comment on PIT itself. What I can say is the best thing about the cutbacks is we are getting some really great people out of the whole mess. All the people I have had the pleasure of meeting have been top quality workers and changed my attitude about PIT people.

It is not personal, it is business. There, I am finished bashing PIT.
Great post with lots of snappy comments, facts and numbers to impress us all....you must be in Tempe management because it's an attitude like yours that ONLY looks at facts and says "business is business" which makes employees hate to work for US and passengers hate to fly US. You obviously have not read the post about the pax who connected through PHL and were treated like dirt....

Nothing could be further from the truth, Miss. I am not in management in Tempe. I am a Purser for United, and I also happen to be an Aviation Management major in school. I was merely trying get those posters such as yourself to take the emotional charge that you seem to have with regard to PIT closing and rather look at things from the perspective of what management's goal is...IN ANY COMPANY...which is to optimize its limited resources in order to yield the greatest return to the bottom line. Trust me, as a former US employee, I am fully aware of all of the downsides of the PHL operation, yet according to the numbers, in spite of all of its operational deficiencies, PHL continues to be a CASH COW for your company. I was merely responding to the OP's question about why people had such strong opinions, and from your response, you're letting emotion interfere with reason. And you're correct. Business analysts tend to look only at the facts. That is their job. If the data suggests that PIT is a detriment to profit maximization, then it is their job to report those FACTS to upper management so that they can take corrective action. You seem unwilling to adapt to the only constant that there is in life, and that is change. Your reaction to my posting proves EMBFA's point exactly. And one more thing: You must not hate US that badly, because you continue to choose working there...

You're not in management in Tempe but will complete your degree in Aviation Management and probably go work for them out there complete with no emotions for your employees.....you'll fit right in. I do hate working here and will be leaving in a little over a year after I finish my MBA. My plan is to find a company like WN (but not in the airline industry) that treats it's employees with compassion and knows their value....quite unlike here. Good luck to you in school.
