Why Usairways Thread So Active?

Lots of other people and I found this site when planebusiness.com shut down its discussion forum. I looked at the history and saw almost nothing in this forum prior to the planebusiness.com shutdown.

Planebusiness.com, which I discovered in 1998, also had most topics on US Airways, with most of the remaining topics on TWA and Southwest.

I tell my neighbors that I am going to write a book about all the foolishness that has went on for the 15 years I was working there, if you haven't lived it you won't believe it!! What is amazing is that the airline is still flying with the total incompetent clowns that are running the place, unfortunately with oil prices going higher and higher the fat lady is starting to warm up and will be singing shortly!

...I think a lot of employees come here because they care. They want U to survive. They want their fellow employees and themselves to earn a livable wage. We want to provide a service that we are proud of. I remember the days of old when I proudly said "I work for Piedmont Airlines!" I think most us want to be proud to say I work for U-S Airways. Sadly, most feel they have not been dealt with honestly, and are not proud of their company or its leadership.
...I think a lot of employees come here because they are not getting information from their company or their union. They want and need to be informed. They would like to find somewhere ONE word of encouragement (that is believable). When they find no encouragement, they voice their dissatisfaction. There are a lot of employees who are scared to death of their future. There are a lot of U employees who are big enough to stand up and shout when they are wronged. Even when "the code of ethics" threatens to discipline if one does.
...Most of us don't want our significant others to know 'just how bad it is'. We must vent somewhere, to someone. It's easy to make up a name and "unload" on a site like this. We have a lot to unload about.
...It's also addictive. Kinda like downloading music. You know you would be better off not to...but it's there. Besides, if I didn't read this stuff...how would I know what PITBULL & others are up to!!!!

Hey while I admit "you the boss", there are many people at AA that never even heard of this site. There's very few rampers most responders on the AA site are FAs or disgruntled TWU or AMFA AMTs.
I know this sounds old hat but "em flying and good luck....

Maybe it's because of a few reasons 1/USAirways--originally Alaganey--sorry if I spelled it wrong--was a force to be reconed with in the past. It was a great airline and if you lived in the North East it was the top airline of it's day. 2/With the merge of Piedmont/US/and PSA it had a great number of people join it's ranks. 3/Those people saw routes and customer service go down the drain with the merge. PSA saw it's well worked West Coast California airline "give" away all of it's hard won routes. It saw it's reservation centers be shut down. Those gals in the hot orange short shorts are still talked about today. 4/The southern hospitality of Piedmont also went out the window. That was true customer service and the days when the CEO would walk through reservations and say hello to everyone by name are really a thing of the past. Basically, you saw 3 great airlines merge into a mess. Those of us who worked at one or more of those airlines are sorry to see the way things are today.

I migrated here from the ALPA webboards because I have been banned due to bad standing.

I quit paying dues. I find no utility in paying dues to a union with 2/3 management representation on the MEC.

I can grant to management their fondest wishes without sacrificing an additional 1.95% of what's left of my salary to the girly-man, jellyfish, pilot "union". :down:

(I am excluding the PIT and PHL reps from my characterizations- they have been the only counter-balance to management's boot-licking lackeys at ALPA).

US Airways and AA/TW were just about tied at the end, until AMFA's international grand poobah got nasty with Holly, and she sent the AMFA crowd to the cornfield. AA/TW was so nasty it took three moderators at one point towards the end...

Seven years later, and little's changed, except for the venue... All the same people pissing and moaning about how they've been screwed over the past 20 years yet they still keep showing up for work for a job they hate, etc...

I'm lobbying for the PBBB to be reopened as a pay for posting site, just like USAviation is now doing (anyone notice that there are fewer and fewer new members?.....), including moderators who weren't so quick to protect board favorites. 😉
