Will Del Drop The Bomb?

It is something that I think the FAA is keeping an eye on also. I am sure they will be all over this watching and waiting for the SCAB mechanics to screw something up.

History does not back up this contention; Eastern Airlines is the primary case in point. The only eye the FAA will keep on this is their well-worn BLIND eye.

NWA/AMT Says, "Again you equate what is happening at NWA with what you have experienced at your airline, without having experienced life at NWA. NWA's actions to date make it clear that it does not want a settlement, it wants elimination. Did your airline demand that?"

No at UniTED they just laid them all off and closed all the heavy maintenance facilities! They didnt care, and neither did the older guys who voted on concessions and the lose of those jobs to save thier own. UniTED management would like nothing more than to get rid of they're maintenance and outsource it ALL! I can remember when we were in contract negotiations, and the operations officer Pete McDonald told all the mechanics this. "We are in the people moving business, not the maintenance business."

At least you guys are standing up for what you believe in, and are not willing to sacrifice a buddies job so you can keep yours. Hang in there, NWA will get what they've got coming to them.

Once again fish you attack UAL instead of sticking to the topic at hand.

And I would bet a lot of jr guys voted for concessions to get their severence.

With all the under handed dirty tactics that the filthy rotten scoundrels from NWA have employed against the rest of the industry in the fare hikes and competitive issues I hope the rest of the unions turn their backs on the brethren from NWA.

I don't think the other airlines really care about what's happened with the issues you've mentioned above, but your statement may be correct in another regard -- it's entirely possible that other unions just may turn their backs on AMFA because of all the representation drives against the TWU, IAM, and IBT, plus the overall tone of the rhetoric used by OVDF and others against those "industrial unions" over the past few decades.

My opinion only, but AMFA has said they can go it alone. Now, they just may get their wish.

700UW, everyone got the severance no matter how the IAM voted! They voted away jobs to save their A$$es. One thing that the guys at NWA are not willing to do! Your situation there at USAIR was no different than UniTED's was. After the merger, there won't be much left of maintenance for you all, since AWA farms out most of it anyway. But till the full merger is complete you may have one year left in ACFT MAINT.

Considering that the mighty TWU has actively assisted in recruiting scabs for NWA and is pushing AA to get some of the struck NWA work, we know where they stand. I'll bet the NWA mechanics would prefer NOT to have help from an outfit like that which is a union in name only.
