I would imagine BHM, BUF, CVG, ISP, LIT, SDF, BNA, PVD and TUL getting nonstop to Phoenix eventually for the same reasons. Just speculation. What do you think? I think Parker is smarter than that. US Airways is going to want to compete with someone besides Southwest Airlines and Delta Airlines.

BHM - Birmingham AL
BUF - Buffalo NY
CVG - Cincinnati OH
ISP - Islip NY (Long Island Macarthur Airport)
LIT - Little Rock AR
SDF - Louisville KY
BNA - Nashville TN
PVD - Providence RI
TUL - Tulsa OK

What about being able to add additional service out of stations like BOS, ATL, ORD, DTW, PHL, IAH, DFW, MCO, TPA, FLL, MIA, RDU, etc by being able to add flights through the synergies of the two operating systems.

I think you are on to something there........

Doug said at the CLT pilot meeting that "we have plenty of opportunities to 'connect the dots' between east and west hubs".
I would expect the e-jets to help with this. Standby...

Well, the West is losing some FL market flights here soon...it'll go to connecting traffic. Hopefully this means another flight to CLT? We'll see.

As for the majority of the cities listed on the first list, the only one I personally can see happening would be TUL, and it would probably be an RJ at the kick off of that particular service as it's not really a large market from PHX here. (Same thing with LIT, SDF and BNA.)

I really don't see addt'l service being added to RDU, ORD, ATL, IAH or DFW. There's not the need for it out of PHX. (I'm talking about where I, personally, am familiar with the loads...other cities could be TOTALLY different.) Perhaps IAH and DFW need more flights going east bound???

I can tell you we need to expand our flights to PHL. I say this because I see quite a few PHL agents trying to get home to PHL taking some crazy routes where our structures meet up in other cities because the nonstops are usually oversold and they can't get home any other way. (GREAT for business, bad for us! lol.)

There was a time when we flew the 767 from the east coast to LAX/SFO and then back to East and on to Europe. I don't know the numbers, but it is VERY possible to see the 767 go from CLT or PHL on the am flts to PHX and back and on to Europe. Those once 75% full PHX flts are now 100% full much of the time and would be a great connector plane for West as opposed to those TRASHY island travelers. What a powerful statement, but what do I know?

All though they are aging, the 767 is a great ac and you guys on the West side would enjoy flying it.

You won't see the 767 doing transcon in the summer. We are maxed out on 767 time to Europe, hence the need for the ETOPS 757.

The 767 flight would never get back in time for a European departure, at the earliest it would be back around 8pm at night, at least two hours deplane, unload, clear customs, agriculture, cleaned, catered, reloaded and boarded, it would be after 10pm. Remember the European flights have slots that are time controlled.

That is why the 767s are on the east coast.

We use to have a 767 overnight in LAX, come to CLT around 3pm and make a 5ish pm flight to FRA.

Logistics it would have to overnight on the west coast to make up an east coast evening European departure, not go out and back.

Plus the cargo on the island flights make big money.
