What's new

You can take my lanyard, but you can never take my freedom

It is a shame that crap like this will now flow down thru the entire workforce. Many of us who work on the ramp have purchased our own ID holders to prevent losing our SIDA badges while jumping in and out of bins etc. Many Airports are charging a fee to replace lost badges, and some are quite steep with PHL charging employees $100.

Surely you are not suggesting that the official US lanyards will be of lesser quality than those offered by airport authorities or outside vendors. US probably field tested the new ones under a variety of conditions because its employees deserve the best.

Serious;y, many ID holders are not very sturdy and a number of employees have purchased high quality ones out of their own pockets.

I think the bottom line is that they should have just left well enough alone, ignore both east and west lanyards. Whether or not pilots of both sides continue to wear the lanyards is a moot point because from what I have seen and heard what the company has done is to galvanize the pilots over this issue.

regards,

Bob

Agreed. It is likely that the company's decision to ban a union employee from displaying any innocuous and minuscule lanyards will have the opposite effect they supposedly are hoping to achieve with this new policy.

The rules have never changed....The company is now enforcing the policy and rightly so. It is getting out of hand. Frankly im tired of seeing the Pitts lanyard 🙂
Trust us, your lanyard that says , will never go out of style with you!, " 370H55V" ! MM!

I don't wear messages on my lanyards, but if there is going to be some "officially" issued company lanyard to be worn from which I misplace my SIDA badge, someone might need to call the police to Management offices, as I am responsible for its safe keeping at all times and I take that duty very seriously. Only two organizations I will surrender my badge upon demand, Management and PHX police, anyone else will need to fight me for it. I am not going to lose it because of some Management crap about not liking messages on lanyards, and thus, I am to be issued some substandard badge holder and lanyard which disappears the first time it is caught on a bag while stacking in a bin.

So Warns Jester.

Why would the Company want Any Employee to show Union support, arent most contract about to reach there end?

Then you will be on the outside looking in, fighting will get you terminated as will being insubordination by violating company policy. And then the IAM which you hate will have to represent you.

Seriously? Its been how many years for certain groups without a contract and the others are coming into negotiations for the second time and everyone is upset that the company is going to make you wear a company issued lanyard?

If thats what you guys want to rally around go for it!. I'm sure most of us could care less what lanyard we have to wear and should focus on more important issues.

If the lanyard is holding company property (IDS), then it should be uniform with the uniform. There are some out there that dont look professional and are just plain tacky, imo.

Although without all the "special" lanyards, how are we supposed to know to start rebooking before we're boarded, ready to go, and then told we have a "maintenance" issue?

What's that annoying buzzing sound? Wait... it's that interloping pest again! Don't you have bread to go deliver? MYOB!

Go worry about your new employer! Isn't there a bread delivery board you can visit and post there instead?

So Swats Jester.

Typical, insult and attack and avoid the issue at hand.

Last time I checked anyone can post here as long as it adheres to the TOS policy.

Don"'t like it, start www.jester.com.

i suppose it's about time they addressed the gang activity here ... because in some cases i feel that's what the pilots have become , modern day gang memebers , and their lanyards are nothing more than their "colors "..

I agree, it's gotten completely out of hand! Have you seen their latest scheme? They're trying to "slang tapes" (as they call it) to raise money for their respective organizations! Just look at one of their recent releases:

As you can see, badge backers and novelty lanyards have led to personalized hats, grills, and Crunk Cups. Where will these gangsters finally draw the line? Thank goodness for this new policy, it will surely put an end to this kind of nonsense.

Q: What is the difference between God and a pilot?

A: God never believes he is a pilot.
It seems the pilot group is being subject to the harsh treatment the other employee groups have for some time . (Agents) This type of management style has speared into the pilot group. Uniforms, training test, attendance, application of the contracts, application of work policy and work conditions. Hate and discontent all around for every body now
