American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

They wouldn’t start really saying that they voted no until they started feeling some of the damage happening from voting in incomplete proposals. Then absolutely they would use the decision as a springboard to point the finger at the TWU and the IAM for the rest of their careers and pass on their hate to the next Generation as well.

It’s just what people do.

We’ve seen this Movie before obviously but the NMB may come back with a recommendation that we do vote on what the Company has prepared so far or we go on hard ice.

If that happens and the Association recommends a strong NO vote, and any group passes I wouldn’t accept any jackasses pointing the finger.
Oh they will point fingers. With the comments here im convinced anything goes to a vote im voting yes. Just like everyone else im not even wasting my time reading it. Check yes and move on.

I respect you for saying that you would vote yes, I don’t think you’re the type that wouldn’t at least read through it first though.

BTW don’t get me wrong. I also want to put the Ghost of 2003 finally to bed. Too bad there are forces out there not wanting to let us do that so easily.

I have 5 years left, with some of the clowns on this page im a yes vote and will happily post my ballot. And no wont even bother reading it. The joy will come when it gets voted in and the clowns will cry that it passed and cant understand why. Unbeleivable some of the ignorance we tolerate on a daily basis.

Well how do you expect the Unions to be smart as you say if the Company still has some items “Open ended”

Again do you really want to vote leaving items unfinished?

BTW I think you’re in Fleet? What do you think of the 40% Systemwide PT proposal?

You do realize with language like that they can make an entire Hub PT over time if they want.

BTW I suspect that Station and Status Protection language is only good if you stay put. We’ll forget about that Force Majeur thing for now since yes every Airline Contract does have that language in them.

It doesn’t matter what group I’m with and as far as the 40 percent it’s what is in the current contract so not sure what your saying unless you think it’s a concession. Which if your saying they could make a hub totally part time then why haven’t they done it already since it’s in the current contract.
That’s nothing but a scare tactic as is most things union leaders like to say during negotiations.
I’ve been around long enough to know all the fears of doom and gloom of what happens if we pass a deal never if rarely come to realization
Full time isn’t going anywhere and there will be jobs a plenty for those who come behind us as well despite the fears of not hiring being put out by the union.
We need to move forward with get a complete proposal to vote on and then get about getting rid of this dysfunctional association

I don’t think I’m at the point yet that I want to witness that little bit of Anarchy go through. Anyway these posters here all have Bucu time and know any harms likely won’t touch them either.

I see it hurting the next Generation more than us. I kind of wish we didn’t have so many kids working here in MIA and I didn’t like so many of them.

BTW you don’t have to post your Ballot cause I believe you’re honest.

I’m sorry. I keep forgetting that you’re a LUS IAM Member and have never had any strong Part Time language in your Contract to begin with.

This is my TWU Contract for Fleet. Part Time is covered for 15 pages. Pages 165 to 180. Particularly check out the language on PT Floors that I’d honestly like to keep thank you very much.

Let me correct you here. I am nothing more than a Fleet Service Clerk in MIA. I’m not even currently a Shop Steward although I have considered taking a pin again here Locally. I don’t speak for any Union but I do speak for myself.

Currently what we know publicly is that we are waiting on the NMB to decide the next move. The Association has asked to negotiate with the Company but Robert Isom has said that he doesn’t believe those talks are going anywhere and the idea to sit is pointless.

So if either side really does feel that way and doesn’t want to meet with the other than none of us have any choice but to wait until the NMB makes the next call.
Negotiations are done. Neither side is budging. So why waste time in talking. The NMB will probably proffer arbitration next which the union most likely will reject.
We are probably going to be on ice for quite some time. I do not see any fast track to a release.

They want to vote on an incomplete proposal. My crystal ball says they would vote it in and then blame the union for allowing it to go to a vote. And then lie, and say they didnt vote for it. Its been like this for as long as Ive been here.

Dont put the pos out for a vote.
There's the fear right there, folks! The fear and conventional wisdom is that the membership probably would vote yes. Did you ever think that maybe people just want a say via vote? Maybe a NO vote would prevail. You two mock any potential YES voters as if your argument is the end all. Don't the YES voters pay union dues? Should they not be heard?
People are tired of just reading updates and watching video footage.
So much for a democratic process.

How many generations of unborn do we have to worry about? Would you be willing to forego anything change to the current contract until you retire in exchange for the future employees? Would you give the company a 50 year contract as it stands now so they may protect future generations? No more raises, ever. Holidays, no more...everything............as it stands now?

Deal or No deal?

weez wants to destroy our current careers because of the idea of future undesireable employees in 20 new stations. Not happening!
But weez was probably offered some financial package from Lehive regarding 2500 members if we get the additional 20 stations.
Ridiculous! Weez is single handedly destroying talks and our career.
Time to vote!

I don’t have a Crystal Ball and if I did and it worked I’d ask for the Powerball numbers and move to Europe.

You’ll have a vote eventually. We will all get a vote eventually.

BTW didn’t you read me say to dfwgen that I supported his choice to vote yes if that’s what he really wants to do?

I support Balance. I’ve always supported and always will support Balance. I’m not a Socialist or a Capitalist. I’m an independent Humanist.

But believe it or not I can promise you that there was a time back before you hired in that some people worried about you and made sure you had some room to come in and grow.

BTW maybe you’re not surrounded by all the damn subcontractors like I am. I can tell you that it really sucks when there are more of them on the gate than there are us. (Don’t really want to help grow that even more)

If the association gets fined by the courts you will see an acceptance for Binding Arbitration to forego the fines. The association has to walk a fine line to avoid this. They don't want to sell out the membership to avoid paying out and possibly have a revolt on their hands. I'd rather see continued negotiations and a JCBA soon. Time is ticking for many of us inside that ten year window. We need the improved 401k and pay.
The next generation coming in the door ( the unborn ) can fend for themselves.

I’m glad to see you come out for what you’re really all about. It never really was about changing Unions for you, it’s about getting all you can get. A true Capitalist.

BTW I do agree partially with you about the unborn. Those that haven’t walked through the threshold yet need to have it just a little tough and not have us hand them everything on a Silver Platter.

I just want to make sure their name is on the roster is all.

You lost me on the fines.
