I was hired because the company wanted to expand. I was hired part time. Not because some union negotiated for me to get a job.
There are no guarantees in life for any promised jobs or work even with a contract.
As far as the IAM contract yes it’s PT language is what it is but your scope is ugly with way fewer stations so there are good and bad in both
 
You lost me on the fines.

He’s probably hoping that the Company has a case that you AMT’s were engaging in illegal activities against American Airlines.

The Judge in his ruling did state that he believes there was absolute merit to declare the TRO.

Yes we absolutely do have less Stations than you have but because of our Contract language we had/have far more people working in those Stations even when you account for size.

Remember that small Stations don’t always have many people working in them so what can seem like a lot isn’t always so. We lost MEM in the Bankruptcy and my friend was laid off from that city of 13 people. (Yes 13 people)

How much time do you have with AA and are you still Part Time?

Yes I read it. And it is his choice just as it is every other member.

I support Balance. I’ve always supported and always will support Balance. I’m not a Socialist or a Capitalist. I’m an independent Humanist.

But believe it or not I can promise you that there was a time back before you hired in that some people worried about you and made sure you had some room to come in and grow.

BTW maybe you’re not surrounded by all the damn subcontractors like I am. I can tell you that it really sucks when there are more of them on the gate than there are us. (Don’t really want to help grow that even more)
I can promise you that there were those who said "I GOT MINE" and "I PAID MY DUES!"
And as far as subcontractors go, our terminal looks like an international airline terminal. Our fleet does NO contract work for any of them. It's all Swissport and D'Nata

If the association gets fined for the so called job action we are at a disadvantage in negotiations unless the association will pay them. The APA got fined for the sickout. They got fined heavily. They ended up giving concessions so they didn't pay the fines. The union (APA) won and the membership lost. That's what I fear might happen to us. It's easier now for the company to show a work or job action since the judge approved a restraining order against the unions. The company can play it like a chess game. Job action or business as usual if they convince the courts in the future of a job action the association gets fined. Then its BOHICA if the unions sell us out. Just want to express that it's my opinion based on what already happened to the APA. I just want my fellow members to realize this. It can happen. Better yet let's hope we get a JCBA soon.

Oh, the fines regarding the TRO. I thought you were referring to arbitration. Gotcha!

IAM Reaches Tentative Deal for New Contracts at Alaska Airlines

June 16, 2019

Washington D.C., June 18, 2019—The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers today announced that it has reached tentative agreements on contracts covering approximately 5,000 clerical, office, passenger service, reservations, ramp and stores workers at Alaska Airlines.

The tentative accords prohibit the outsourcing of work, increase base wage rates 14 percent, on average, on date of signing, provide a mechanism to ensure wages keep pace with the industry, reduce health insurance costs, increase company sponsored retirement benefits, increase premium and shift differentials by up to 20 percent, among other improvements.

“I thank IAM members at Alaska Airlines for the unity and solidarity they demonstrated throughout this process,” said General Vice President Sito Pantoja. “It’s because of that unity that the negotiating committee was able achieve the notable gains in these tentative agreements.”

“I congratulate the IAM negotiating committee on a job well done,” said IAM District 142 President and Directing General Chairman Dave Supplee. “IAM members at Alaska Airlines can be proud of these agreements, especially the prohibition on outsourcing work. IAM members spoke loud and clear that their futures needed to be secure, and this tentative agreement is a solid step in the right direction.”

Good for the folks at Alaska, but keep in mind this in no way compares to AA.
If I’m not mistaken AK only has like 5 or so stations where they actually have their own workforce
They have a large amount of outsourced work already and the overall size of their operation is very small compared to AA.
Not sure how the Virgin folks fit in here either as I believe most of their ramp was contract

There is a poster from another Airline that comes on here and likes to say that what happens at one Airline concerns us all.

I don’t know a lot of the details about AK personally but I do notice that it only took them 1 year from the amendable date to reach new deals with the Airline.

AK is also a lot smaller than us but the highlights don’t look too bad as far as improvements for them. You can go to their current agreement and make the comparisons yourself if you want.

Yes was just reading the highlights and yes I think some of the items should be pointed out to the company if and when they ever begin talking again.

Ok with almost 35 years in FT I can see why you wouldn’t be too concerned about the PT Language then. And I guess you even have a few more years of seniority under your belt.

What concerns me on it is here in MIA we have a staggered flight operation. I can easily see the Company wanting to add more PT and not upgrading and eventually MIA becoming a 70% PT to 30% FT City with how the operation works. (Lots of Internationals)

I’m not saying that I’m worried about being bumped back to PT and with the Status Protection it would take a hell of a lot of people needing to get knocked out of here under a Force Majeur even to get to me, but I still just like our TWU Language on it a lot more.

Back to the AK agreement I’m not sure there’s enough meat on the bone by comparison to take back to the Company when we do finally sit down again but it is worth going over with a comb anyway?

UNIONism used to be about negotiating better and safer working conditions while maintaining a healthy and profitable company. Now UNIONism is, how many people do I have under me to act as a buffer between myself and unemployment.

If you truly value UNION ideals you should worry more about maximizing pay and bettering working conditions and less about how many lower seniority people (most likely doing the actual work while you screw off all day making forum posts) have to get hit before it affects your little world.

That is why I can't stand you WeAAsles. For all your UNION cheerleading at the end of the day you are a self-centered, self-serving, hypocrite.
