Why dont you compare what both employees lost and got back, you will clearly see NW's employees faired better than DL.
Did DL negotiate with the employees?
Nope,
Did NW?
Yes.
Look at medical costs, cheaper at NW than DL, NW gets more vacation, sick time, and got a lump sum payment, did you at DL?
Again , let me know how that whole union thing works when a company files bankruptcy ?
How many months did they pay this back so far. If they started last October, they would only need to continue each month till next March 2011 to get close to what the IAM got us. My cash is earning a dividend for me right now, not for the man that stole it in the first place.Err, Delta's giving me back close to $550.00 on Oct. 15 ! And it's being given back, all without a union ........................or paying union dues !
What makes you think, if the poop hits the fan and Delta files bankruptcy, that your union will be relevant. Their main concern will be staying in power ,making concessions and collecting dues....................... your job comes 2nd !
Why do you keep bringing up if/when delta files bankruptcy? Union or no union, who wants bankruptcy? I did research on both companies going threw bankruptcy and what happen with the employees. It's cut and dry, NW came out a whole lot better. People of Delta do your research and don't get frighten by some of the language from people like "southwind". Understand that a contract in any type of situation goes a long way in the USA. A man's work is the greatest gift from God. Have some say so when it comes to compensation/benefits.
I want a vote I don’t want a vote I want a vote I don’t want a vote I want a voteBTW, no I'm not management and when the hell is the vote, so we can all get back to work ?
Kev, I can tell you what he hassn't been doing, he hasn't been reading the statement we just recieved from the IAM National Pension Fund.I've been working all along. What have you been doing?
Southwind isnt voting, his group his not fleet service, and since the law allows workers to have the choice to unionize, its their right. Why is it ok for the CEO and senior management to have contracts but not the rank and file who do the work and produce the profits?
The NMB declared single carrier status today.
e National Mediation Board (NMB) today issued a single carrier ruling for the Fleet Service (Ramp) classification at Delta Air Lines. This important ruling sets in motion a 14-day countdown that will determine if the workers in the combined Delta/Northwest Fleet Service classification at Delta will have a secret ballot election.
This 14-day period, which concludes on September 8, 2010, is the last opportunity for pre-merger Delta Fleet Service workers to submit signed election request cards. The NMB requires evidence of "sufficient interest" among employees before it will authorize a union representation election.
There is much riding in the election’s outcome. Delta has said that pre-merger Northwest employees will lose IAM-negotiated contractual benefits, such as pre-age 65 retiree medical benefits and healthcare premiums for active employees that are lower than what pre-merger Delta employees are required to pay. Also at risk is the only active guaranteed pension plan at the airline, paid sick time, occupational injury payments, and more vacation accrual than pre-merger Delta employees.
While IAM members have much to lose, both employee groups have much to gain. Following a successful election, the IAM will help Fleet Service workers negotiate an enforceable contract based on what Fleet workers tell the IAM they want.
Any pre-merger Delta employee in the Fleet Service classification who has not recently submitted a signed and dated election request card should do so without delay. Full-time, part-time and Ready Reserves are all eligible. Election request cards are only valid for 12 months from the date they were signed. Election request cards are available from any IAM representative, by calling 1-800-998-3554 or by completing a form at www.IAM4Delta.org.
Kev, I can tell you what he hasn't been doing, he hasn't been reading the statement we just recieved from the IAM National Pension Fund.
No one ever said you can't have a union or a contract but, sheesh.....................how long are we going to drag this out ?
The union's already got the rule change, in their favor I might add, that they wanted so vote already. Instead we get crap like this :
"Northwest Airlines Union Sues Delta"
