This has now gone above and beyond....someone fix the problem....is anyone in charge...the flt took a over a 2 hr ground/baggge delay - then over 1/2 the passengers bags not loaded.....IS ANYONE IN CHARGE >obviously NOT.

The gamsters and thugs in PHL didnt get everyones goat ---one crew--front and back--- after an hour --with the fantastic help of a "loadmaster"--directing and tellinghowto---loaded 167 bags---got back in and off to CLT-----HURRAH for them !!!

Do you not understand, PHL starts the day off everyday over 50 Rampers short due to the company not filling the open positions, that is no sick calls, no one on vacation and no one on OJI.

Looking out my windshield I want the gamsters and thugs just to leave and ruin someone elses Xmas not my customers----if you dont like it leave -dont ruin other peoples lives/families with this union gangster tactics. My .02$

Gamster?

That a cross between a guinea pig and a hamster?

And why don't you actually think about what you said.

There are 10,000 IAM Members at US Airways and only 80 people called in sick, if it is was "union gangster" tactics this would have happened systemwide.

Don't let the facts get in your way.

They did get the bags on a SFO flight in 56 minutes yesterday. Is that record time this week?

I understand the short staffing and other issues...but do we not pay management the BIG BUCKS....to come up with a solution, I do feel bad for those rampers and handlers that are working their a** off because of short staffing situation. I'm sure they will not get the credit they deserve..management in the end will lump the work group together as a whole and punish all not just a few...this will be unfair.

Facts are no good when you twist them. You know as well as I do that there are not 10,000 ramp workers at PHL.

80 of how many *PHL ramp workers* called in sick?

Lets see the are 50 people short all ready, I don't work in PHL so I cant tell you.

I do work in PHL and can give you an appro. number.
There are about 450 full timer agents and about 200 part time.
Let's say 80 called out sick.....could be absorbed.....could still operate.
But Wait!
there are 60 uncovered lines every day....before a single sick call.
That puts the number of missing agents for the day at 140!

These are the straight facts.....
Usairs staffing model gives us 2.5 agents per flight.
Spread over 15 gates on B-con and that's 37.5 people.....or 12 three man crews...with 1.5 people left over.
With flights on all gates, (on CCY's paper this never happens but in PHL the gates are always full!) that still leaves 3 gates with no one to work!

Now for real life!
B-con gets between 25 and 32 agents on any given day. You do the math this time!
A 3 man crew cannot turn a 6000 lbs. offload and a 7000lbs. onload in 50 mins.
We don not have enough tugs (that run!) in PHL for every gate to have one plus tugs for the bag runners and tugs for the bag chute. So you have to wait for tugs to be available.
Same thing goes for belt loaders.
This weekend when managers staffed the bag chute they had 7 people per carousel....we get 4.

This is NOTHING new in PHL. But US does nothing about it! The bubble may have burst this past weekend but it didn't go away! The bubble is just filling up again and we are bound to repeat ourselves unless CCY finally takes action!

Admit it CCY...... LISCO'S STAFFING NUMBERS ARE CRAP!.....fire him!

I'm tired of explaining it to you....the door is open....come see for yourself...

To the pilots who come down on the ramp this weekend and offered to help load bags....THANKS!
To the ones who sit and look out the window and ####.....Sit!

I knew the Admin Manager who was asked to "retire" because of the problems in PHL. He was a good guy and I'm sure he was beating his head against the wall to get more staffing but was denied at every ask. I am sure he is Sooooooo happy to be out of this fiasco. Since they've gone through so many managers with the same results (nothing being accomplished) it would be interesting to see if given the help (and equipment) that was asked for what would happen. Maybe it would run?

As a side note- we had a note in ops from maintenance to "keep the beltloaders running" at all times. Guess the ones that are working now are in such great shape they're afraid they wont start if turned off. lol

Then lay blame at the people that run the operation, but no you are too scared to do that, we all remember your anti-jerry posting and then your buddy chiamed in and bam the post was gone and you said you were never gonna post again.

Guess you word means nothing.

How are them DMs?

Doesn't have to understand, Paid a ticket with the expectation of on time performance and a timely arrival of baggage.

They rest is a US Airways - Labor issue NOT A CUSTOMER PROBLEM

The best thing to ever happen to U is for you, Pineybob, to buy a ticket on someone else. Good riddence. Greeter.
