$20,000 Buyouts.. - merged topics

Why?

They are only doing this to shut us up!!!

They could give two sh!ts less if we take the money and run or not.

Actually, they probably would hope we didn't take the buy-out!
I truly don't believe that they are doing this to shut us up because they don't CARE. They do whatever they want to anyway.

It would not make economical sense (to the company) to give a reserve $20,000.00 to leave. They barely make over that as it is. They don't care if you or I are unhappy.

As with Southwest, you over the buyout to the highest paid employees not the lowest.

As far as reserve, I can't agree with you more. But, this WILL benefit the reserves. 314 people gone will allow 314 flight attendants to get off of reserve.

It's getting old not being able to get your time in after 18 years. I would understand it, if I was low in senoirity. And by low, I mean at US Airways, which might be 7-10 years. 8 years may not seem low, but we all know that it is here. AFA really dropped the ball on this one. Hopefully, they will get their s**t together this time. And hopefully, it will be soon, but I'm not counting on that. They seem to be fairly sluggish, after all, it has been 4 years that we have been complaining about this problem. Amazing. Hey, here's an idea, how about a side letter. We still do those, don't we?

Please tell me how you get the company to sign off on a side letter!!!! We can all write side letters all the live long day. It wont mean a damn thing to the company. AfA did its best for this offer. They would not budge!!! Again you can make all the demands you want, but at the end of the day....they are in controll of everything that is not in already stated in our current agreement. Any suggestions N109UW???????

So tell me, what ever happened to Pref Bid? We voted on it, were promised more rsv's off rsv status with the implementation of Pref Bid. We all sat around the meetings hearing what a good thing this was, how it ws going to help those 14 year rsv's. So the T/A passed and LTO put in ASAP(we were all led to believe that these 2 items were linked to each other, just like rsv overirde and SAP/sec lines were), but no Pref Bid. And that famous quote "to be implemented no later than June 2004" was tagged on both of them. Who would have ever guessed that something we voted on and passed would never get put in place. That alone is very disturbing and it should larm everone, BH or rsv. If we approve something this time, will it be put in place? Should we believe our Neg. committee on the next time around? Sure, it gets old hering about this, but walk in a rsv shoes and feel their pain(and I don't mean for a month, try 6-8 months, which still doesn't compare to 4 years).

I'm with you on this one......If they had included the S4 travel benefits for those of us w/ less than 25 years, I would be jumping on this. believe it or not, having that benefit figures into my future retirement plan. From what I understand, the union wanted more as far as travel went and the company said no. How stupid of them, they cut off their nose to spite their face. It's something that would not have cost them a thing to offer.

Guess they don't really want to get rid of us 15-25 yr. F/As as mush as we think they do.
Yep. I'm sure that they will get their 314 but I will not be one. I think that it will be great for those who planned on quitting anyway. I want my GoldPass at an S3. Forget the 65 point plan, you'd have no chance of getting anywhere.

Totally agree with you on this one...and yes I am a RSV , But the contract states that the company and AFA has to agee on the program. Guess what...the company wants to use a s**ty progam that does not benefit us or our Senority. The one that would work cost, and we all know how this lying managemnt is about cost.

Hey ---How old do you think I am ????? LOL !
Actually, my age plus my years of service will equal 65 in January 09 so I'm short by about 7 months........
I knew you weren't old enough but I thought you might have the years to make up for it! 🙄
No dig intended!

Hey, here's an idea, how about a side letter. We still do those, don't we?

Is a side letter and an LOA the same thing? Even though it may not be perfect to those who elect to take it, it is an option offered. I do have to give the East Union ALOT of credit for getting this on the table and signed in short order after the PIT closing announcement.

Could the East Union please mentor the West Union on being inovative and persitent? Is it at all possible to get a letter drawn up that puts pay equity in place (just flight pay per hour, I know work rules and premiums are a different story) on the day that I have to put on the new "We Are Family" uniform. Not a good approach to making us be happy and excited on January 28th I am already uncomfortable being under one certificate with no pay equity. I have seen LOA's in other places that dealt with F/A pay. Is it not possible for the West F/A's or is it just not being addressed ?

sorry, a little off topic but this thread is about what can be accomplished with good representation....

To keep this further off topic...How about if the East F/As give the West F/As equal pay if the West pilots do the same for the East?

Back to the buy-out...Does anyone remember the details of the last F/A SEP offer and what the results were?

My first thought when I saw it was that it was a great deal but then I did the math. A lot of folks might think I'm an idiot for not taking it since school's out in May but I want to get the flying privileges .................. where else can you go and when you leave the company that benefit is offered ?

What is this gold pass you speak of? The above boarding list mentions vacation passes. emergency/bereavement, and s-4 travel. Nothing about a gold pass.

Ahhh, I see it. 25 years of service as a FA and has attained the age of 45 and who leaves the company, etc. Did this section survive when they changed the boarding priority etc, and if it did why is it not mentioned on the boarding priority chart?

I thought the "Gold Pass" went the way of crew meals and passing trips. Is it still available?

It's all about the S3 active boarding status. That is the Gold Card really. If you have 25/45 you board at your senority as an active employee.

OK, so now you've got 2 posts down. Go get em!!!! 😛h34r: (Within reason of course. I hear the corn field is a nasty place....) 🙄

Oh,its not that bad!! Ya' kinda get used to the place after a while 😉

The problem with this buyout for me is the travel benefits. I am so close to getting lifetime benefits. If they threw that in with the money, many more would take it.
This is the same for me. 20 years seniority but only 42 years old so no travel benefits. I would love to take this but after 20 years I want my travel benefits. I have earned them. So gonna have to stick around for 5 more years. Spent the day on the phone with the company trying to do something about this but they said no way. Take it or leave it. Then the guy said to me that this isn't going to reach your seniority anyway. Nice huh.
