This is how your coworkers in PHX should talk to you freedumb. Like Wild Bill to Jack McCall. You are a coward and deserve no respect. Go to 1:40.

I have a son in the USMC. You can bet before his Commanding Officer gives the order to Lock and Load he has been through some extensive training and education. He has been educated on what to expect when the order is given. He has been trained to improvise, adapt and overcome! The US Marine Corps knows and appreciates the importance of training and educating the troops before giving such an order. I agree... the emphasis by the union at this point in time, should indeed be on educating the membership on the strike process. The failure to do this, as a union, will result in a membership that lacks the solidarity of it's members to successfully achieve their goals. The failure to do this in the military results in the tragic loss of life and defeat.
Semper Fi!
Marines drill with their weapons daily... they know them by feel and muscle memory... they can disassemble them and reassemble them in the dark, and/or blindfolded. They fire hundreds of rounds a week to keep their marksmanship skills honed to a fine edge...

Fleet should be just as educated and drilled concerning the process of self-help under the Railway Labor Act... (Striking)... everyone needs to get educated on the process. It is the only ammunition in the magazine that Fleet is issued!

LOCK -N- LOAD!!

William Sprague, MEC, ALPA, AMerican Eagle

American Eagle pilots rejected a deal at Eagle because of the following, according to Sprague, "One of the things this demonstrated today is that the pilot group just isn’t willing to work for less what they’re already paying other people to do the same flying. They’re paying Republic Airlines to fly aircraft with the same passengers on it, with the same aircraft they were offering us, and they’re willing to pay them more than they’re willing to pay us. And that’s just not something we were prepared to do."

Hopefully, our NC doesn't bring back a TA with a compromised wage tier system that doesn't catch up to sAA for two years.

ALPA chose not to take the company offer to the rank and file, and rejected it based on the inherent injustice that unions are meant to fight against.  I'll give Sprague credit because the result of the rejection is suppose to shut down American Eagle over the next two years.

Tim,

I have a question for you, I am not trying to stir the pot, just some thoughts.

What makes US IAM represented employees more important or special than any other IAM represented group that has been on strike, since you want special dispensation, to me its says you think that you all deserve more than the rest of the IAM who is or has been on strike.

And when I went on strike in 92 for a week, we didnt earn any strike pay, but myself and others were prepared for it, I know I was.

On another note (no surprise) but CLT is having major sick calls tonight. They will be lucky to run any kind of operation & I hope no one stays off day shift if they attempt to mandatory.

No contract No sacrifice .

I didn't look at it as that we are special.  I was thinking two things.
1.  Primarily, if the IAM strikes American Airlines, this will be perhaps the biggest Labor news in quite some time and will carry risk on both sides [middle class jobs  vs Capitalism].  The stakes will be high and if the IAM loses the strike then, imo, not just the IAM but Labor in general will suffer maybe a fatal blow.  So, this strike will be about much more than the IAM employees on the property.  That being said, I think the IAM should do what it takes to leverage a successful strike.  Especially since airline strikes are National and well publicized.

2.  I think it is reasonable to think that dispensation can be granted at this time.  Other times, I doubt it.  This time, if our NC draws the line,  the INTL officers have their own butts on the line.  As the saying goes, "Do this and I support you, or don't and I go to the reform".  That would be an unnecessary risk taken by Buffenbarger.

At any rate, those are my thoughts.  Not that any IAM member is better than another but if we can push through a successful strike, and can get dispensation, then we should.  Because all IAM members and perhaps the country will be better off and maybe a turn for the better in this country.

Striking is a perfect storm against this company, based on what I observe presently.

Harry, I hate to bust the bubble, but the company doesn't give a ****. They suspended operation at noon for the rest of the night.

The weather impacting CLT and the lack of snow removal eqipment is the reason for suspending the ops.

Terri Pope ordered that any calls of absence due to weather would not receive points for today only. I imagine people are calling in sick to at least get sick pay.

Which is absurd. What ever union would allow that to even be in negotiations is amazing. The TWU did at AA.
