Ok, let's start off the day on a note of postivity. What can we do to make this union better for the employees of US. What would the members consider more bang for the buck.
Personally, I would like more face time with my AGC, more adversity towards the company, One reason the company doesn't take the NC for face value is because the IAM won't flex it's muscle..............remember during the organizing campaign, the " strength in numbers" slogan. 141 and 142 should be aligning for a push to get a decent contract. Together we are stronger than alone.
Will you please explain how the IAM 141 and 142 can "flex their muscles" any more than to ask for a release per the Railway Labor Act, and then advise everyone to prepare to strike, per the Railway Labor Act? Are you even aware that BOTH groups are asking to be released, and are preparing for a STRIKE?

What would YOU do to MAKE the company settle negotiations? I really want to hear YOUR game plan!

You've been around long enough to know, two things the company loves are the dot stat catagories of OT performance and PAWOBS. FLEET SERVICE AND A/C MAINT can control both. Your father was a mechanic, during his career i'm sure his wrench turned a little slower at times. Cops get the Blue flu, so why doesn't everyone have a flu day...............I know 700, your not supposed to do it, but every now and then in a boxing match someone gets punched below the belt. Work rules are designed to protect the worker, so why do we break them daily? The three hubs can control the outcome of the negotiations, just think of the power we have in three cities, but no, lets get back to the breakroom to play cards. If the fleet wants a better contract we have to work for it. Until the mindset changes that we have the control, not AH, we will always be losers. Like I said before, if Vince was on the property he would puke.

I have always been a pro work safe, and CLT has been doing it on and off, cant speak for other stations.

Class 1 station, which includes all hubs as well, is any station above a certain flight threshold.  Off the top of my head I think it's FLL, TPA, MCO, CLT, PHL, DCA, BOS, LGA, LAS, PHX.  May be another couple.  Not sure if FLL, MCO, TPA are still class 1 but I believe so. Everything else is class 2.
Is EWR a Class 2 city? I would think since both im pretty sure that the combined US & AA operation is over the threshold to keep it insourced.

And I hope you guys get the AA work back once joined together so some of the AA people can come back home. The vendor isn't that great.

I trust that you are already working safe, etc.

Now, let’s examine your philosophy-- A concerted, sanctioned effort by ANY bargaining unit to interfere with operations outside of the Railway Labor Act, can result in a legal case being brought against that bargaining unit. This has already happened right under your nose with the Pilot Group. They were sued by US in 2011 for illegally participating in a work action allegedly cloaked as a safety campaign... and they LOST! This cost every single Pilot dearly in legal expenses, which could have gone toward getting a fair agreement.

That is why you will never see ANY Union launch a work action until it’s completely LEGAL per Federal Law. If not... they could lose their financial assets, and the represented group would be adversely affected in the long term!

Lawyers, Courts, and Federal Agencies are more involved today than was during the Vince Hickman years thanks to Corporate Lobbyist..That era is gone, and it will not return under the same circumstances today, or in the future, even if Nelson was running things!

Please review the USAPA  (Pilots) case HERE and HERE

AH send the IAM leadership a letter accusing mechanics of not taking overtime.

In the CBA you cant be forced  to work OT, and since the 757 in heavy didnt make its ETR cause of working safe, the company farmed out a 757.

Working by the book is legal, you just have to do it the proper way.

Not MHT or PVD robbed?Josh
all stations not class 1 are class two. About 20 class 2 stations.

Mf told rodney that bdl and pvd are class two...but they arent. Although when the new contract was printed, that letter disappeared.

the current problem with the union is that it doesnt trust the membership so it simply just talks but, in the end, settles on ridiculous contracts.

The present bunch has been all talk for 6 years other than destroying jobs at hal and united.

Tim isn't there a special agreement in place for MHT along with BUF and possibly other stations? I wonder what will happen in the joint agreement. MHT is mostly express.

Josh

Off the record imo they need to do the things rockit2 suggests. but unless something has changed most ,at least in CLT, just won't do it.

Edit to add I remember before I left several days of no over time & it "grabbed them by the balls ".

That’s correct Harry... there ARE things Members can do “legally” within Federal Laws...

Members are not contractually obligated to sign up for OT for instance-- However, in times like this, only a few will actually follow through by not signing up. This makes Rockit’s ideology impractical, if not impossible to implement with any actual significance!

I don't even think we have any members in those two stations anymore. We were suppose to arbitrate BUF but then Roa's boys balked as AH half baked them into walking away and tossing in $500 for moving cost as the contractor did the work.

It's not impractical...it's called " old school ". When the membership has had enough they will react. I bet the last time anyone called OSHA in CLT was G Bonar, that guy could drive a manager crazy by just walking on the property.
