that sure is interesting to note.  but i thought that until we have a contract  that we cant touch aa metal and vice versa?   unless may be mgmt is thinking that the iam will get a "fair" contract?

They can take their 3 step shuffle, and shove it. As a starting point we need exactly what AA is getting now AND Retro pay to cover the last 2 years that we have been getting stroked by the company. Anything less is a NO VOTE. ..
+1000

wings I could note agree more!

that's interesting is AA TWU workers doing that now or is it contract labor?

It's contracted, I think some company called ATS is doing it now.  The AA people in PHX were furloughed, transferred, or otherwise scattered some time ago from what I understand, around the time their contract was mangled in bankruptcy.

I thought the same.  I don't know what the rationale was or who gave the go-ahead to have US agents working AA metal...maybe someone who does know can fill us in.

It's possible because US has bid for and been awarded the ground handling contract. As long as AA can outsource the station per their contract, anyone is able to bid for it. If they go over something like 20 flights, then they have to bring their own people back in and US would not be able to work those aircraft. This is no different than AA handling US flights at JFK.

I wonder what happens when all the flights are AA flights

I believe AA is handiling US flights at JFK now.

And as long as there are no US Fleet at the station and vice versa With AA Fleet, they can work the flights.

CJ,

I don't know who in their right mind would willingly bid to work AA metal as there are sizable restrictions on that person's schedule.  If one is awarded an AA line, then they are required to keep that line for 6 months versus this new bid which is scheduled to last about a month (which means Management will drag it out for another additional 2 months).  The one can only trade or drop to someone who has been trained on AA metal, which limits one's schedule.  I don't know what weight and balance system AA uses, so would I be correct to assume it is SABRE?

Also heard another rumor that the AA FSA CBA does NOT allow people to drop a shift, but only trade shifts?  That would really cause some problems for the large numbers of commuters out of PHX.  Any AA people able to answer?

AA's CBA has nothing to do with US fleet service, you work under you own CBA, not the TWU's and AA's.

I don't believe they would be working under the AA cba

They wouldn't, but anyone who is awarded the "AA" lines on this bid and receives the training will only be able to drop shifts and trade them with someone who holds a similar line and has also been trained to turn AA metal.  This severely limits the number of people who you can drop to or trade with.

I doubt if AA uses the "eunuch lead" system since the only station in US that does is PHX.  They use crew chiefs apparently, but what a crew chief's roles and responsibilities are I don't know yet.

I thought the CLT and PHL hubs used the unit lead system also?  At any rate I'd like to see it go.

Word out is the lowest senority agents are going to end up with the AA lines in phx as nobody wants to work them.

Well, been busy for the past few weeks and thus just went through the last 27 pages, mostly off topic crap and pissing contests.  There were some good posts and topics whcih I'd like to cmment on.

The first is actually many, and I'll summarize my positions like this.  When I see a TA I will vote NO unless the following is met (and this doesn't' mean that I'll vote yes simply is they are, it's a big picture thing)
  • Industry leading pay or pay comparable to the highest in the industry (we are the number one airline now, or so they say!)
  • Every single job that is currently protected shall remain untouched
  • In fact, I'm not giving up a fucking thing
  • Elimination of all the crap provisions, including (but of course not limited to) full sick pay, all scope, etc.
  • Retro pay.  I don't care if it's called a 'signing bonus'.  You pay me for every day the company has dicked around in negotiations and that will satisfy this item.
Secondly, about the switch to FCFS for non reving.  I think the company tipped their hand too early.  I ask, no, DEMAND that the NC make an issue of this blatant violation in negotiations.  I want the mediator to  see, know, and understand that the company has announced their intention to violate the CBA for two reasons.  First, I believe this puts us in a place of power.  Second, I believe it provide the NC the ammo to demand locking in our flight benefits as they stand.  This would be supported as insurance to protect honest and forthright negotiations from being tainted by the company negotiating in bad faith and later taking those benefits away.

Yes I said it; if one of these conditions are not met I am an emphatic NO vote!  I will NOT permit what I have to be taken away, nor will I allow the company to treat me as a second class liability.

Of course they wouldnt, your not an PMAA employee nor a TWU member.

Everything is status quo.

Once they are all AA flights nothing changes until you have a JCBA.

A grievance has been filed about the upcoming change to FCFS, and there are all ready two precedent setting grievances at US that have been won by the West and East Flight Attendants.

I think we'll have some senior people going for it out of interest or novelty, especially those for who scheduling flexibility isn't as important or those enticed by the 4x10's they're offering.

those who are stuck workin the aa metal  if they have a grievance   will both the iam and the twu file    i ask this bec if the us employees working aa metal  and the twu and iam are suppose to be the alliance  it sure makes for interesting things to come

also is it similar in jfk too  with this going on?
