what difference does this make?700UW said:Ask yourself this, who pushed Delaney and his team in?
Would you trust this person in office or anyone he supports?
+1Tim Nelson said:Ouch. Well, that's politics. The reality is that I worked with Jay Cronk who was Buffenbarger's guy for the United ramp campaign. So the above caption is false for sure. Jay was never reassigned, at least when I was Directing the United campaign for the District. As far as the Delta campaign. Roach completely screwed that one up, and the United stew campaign. Roach had absolutely no clue on organizing and always got terrible information about what was happening because he always used his staff instead of putting on non-political members on your team and using them in the front lines as they empowered the people you were organizing.
I told Roach he was going to lose the Delta ramp campaign because after I came back from ATL on a organizing mission, I assessed it as a loser unless we took some aggressive moves. I was finally able to get them to buy into the house visits and maybe that brought up the score. But at the end of the day, Roach didn't listen to me until after he lost the Delta ramp.
Essentially, the Tommy R's, and Steve Gordon's, were all covering their own arses saying "ATL looks Good", "MSP looks great". I remember being on one conference call with a guy from the INTL organizing team who was assigned to a campaign. The guy spoke the truth and said something like, "Station X needs more work". Roach blasted him and said he didn't want any negativity. So from that point on, the guy said "Station X looks great".
One of the paradigm shifts we brought in at DL141 was NOT to rely on AGC's or others who felt compelled to Bull S. AGC"s are not organizers anyways, they don't know this stuff. I brought in our own rank and filers and that created the honesty I needed to hear instead of "Sunny and 70' reports from folks who are getting paid but won't lose their job if the organizing drive lost. For instance, Bill K from CLT. Rick R...Gene B.....all rank and filers I used because I knew I could count on their reports. Tommy R was terrible as he always gave Roach exactly what he wanted to hear. I told Tommy just to come clean but he didn't want to risk losing his GLR job because Klemma was saying how he had SLC, and other stations wrapped up. So it wouldn't have sounded to good for Tommy to speak the truth. Dora was the absolute worst though. That's why we needed two organizing teams in IAH. Roach insisted upon her for the sCO IAH so I convinced Delaney that if he wanted to win against the IBT that we needed our OWN team in IAH. So we did and we won.
As far as the Continental stew campaign. Ira screwed that one up as well. He claimed if he left ORD alone, his plan would work because he didn't want to stir up a hornets next in ORD, since AFA had like 7,000 stews based here. I fell off my chair. At any rate, those organizing failures gave me more credibility and leverage so that I was able to continue the Airtran campaign and incorporate more of the new techniques for the United ramp campaign. FINALLY, I convinced them to use social media and allow it to be uncensored. It worked!
But I find it interesting that Buffy would blame Cronk. IMO, Buffy probably actually believes it as well since Roach reported to him and probably said Jay F it all up. WHo knows.
While I can understand where you are coming from to an extent, you can't base your decisions solely on that. You never really know how someone will perform ahead of time. How many politicians have told us one thing in order to get elected, and then doesn't follow thru after they get in office?700UW said:Ask yourself this, who pushed Delaney and his team in?Would you trust this person in office or anyone he supports?
Honestly, will these guys ever just focus on negotiations and/or other things other than their "Tim Nelson" Baskings, or should I say "Bashings".cltrat said:what difference does this make?
there are people who voted for Obama in 08 who didn't in 12 and ones who regret it altogether.
people sometimes don't turn out how you thought or hoped.
How about you? Tim at least praises the IAM when it is deserved, have you ever been critical of them in any fashion?
Tim,Tim Nelson said:Actually, 80%, including me supported and pushed Delaney. Canale wasn't worthy of our US AIRWAYS votes as he ushered in class two pay, seniority cleansing, and an onslaught that was extensive. Just because Delaney has been a disaster doesn't mean that the decision to kick out Canale was wrong. It wasn't. CB or MF nominated Delaney and I won't hold that against them. As with any elected official, just because someone supports someone in the past, doesn't mean that candidate is entitled to your future vote. Delaney couldn't win the nomination of any US AIRWAYS hub in 2012. That should say something. Canale didn't deserve ANY support from the US AIRWAYS members although he was better for the United members when compared to Delaney.
Huh? I have been positive and I'm excited for change. And I'm confident that the entire 141 membership is very positive about rebuilding this union from ground zero. If you can't stand up to Delaney on the UA contract and endorse it, how the heck are you going to stand up to AH? That's the riddle. As negative as the United and HAL situation is, and it is negative, I'm proud that the United members have decided to help rebuild this union and clean up the toxic environment that currently exist. Why shouldn't they?
We have to stop IMO thinking we have to clean the whole house every election. We made a mistake back in 2008 & 2010. We lost some very good union people at the district level, and some will never return because they felt they were doing their job and got voted out anyway. Meanwhile we replaced these people with some although they are good guys, they got in way over their heads. So what happens to the membership? We spend the next several years figuring out who are the ones that can't do their jobs. We find this out from the membership getting screwed. This is always going to be the issue as long as we keep replacing whole slates. If there is a bright side, it's that we now know the people that shouldn't have been put in at first and we are correcting the issues. Why start back at the beginning and start this process all over again. Seems like two steps backwards to me. IMO we are always going to have a United or Continental person president, because we are so outnumbered, so it's the people below him for US that we need to make sure are capable of the job. And we sure don't need anyone cutting those numbers down from what they are today. Anyone trying to do that, is just simply not there for the US employees. We are far outnumbered now as it is. Don't know if double slating will ever happen, but that's the best solution IMO. Keep the people in that are doing their jobs.ograc said:Unfortunately it's nomination / election season again. Time again for attacking the incumbent leadership team and promises of how great things will be with a new opposition team in place. The frustrated membership bought into the hope for change 6 years ago and voted in new leadership with Delaney's team. Today the in house politics still exist. The frustratingly slow process of contract negotiations still exists. The company's posture of not wanting to give back to the membership still exists. A change in leadership 6 years ago; yet the same challenges exist. The floor is open for opinion on what that should tell us.
Yes, been thru it all...700UW said:Wings, we're you employed at US in 92 when the bloodbath took place?
I'm sorry, can you explain. I was referring to the actions that have directly affected our membership through anti union TA's. Like at HAL and UAL. I didn't create the toxic situation at HAL or UAL. I did however win a grievance against our union fighting for the LMRDA rights guaranteeing a re run election, and beating the pants off of the IAM INTL attorney who got fired after the DOL ruling. I'm actually quite proud of securing the rights. I would love to fight for members in arbitration instead of having to fight for the LMRDA rights for our members and I'm hopeful that the members will support me. No way in hell will I ever represent folks as you do. NEVER. And I wouldn't waive off grievances, without the members consent, like you guys have. You guys have absolutely polluted, ALL OF YOU, the current contract by REFUSING to enforce it and waiving off time limits. Now, you guys are blowing smoke up everyone's arse saying how MM is scheduling arbitrations. Tell us how many arbitration decisions for US AIRWAYS you guys have saw over the past 12 months? The LM2's only show about $20,000 combined for United, HAL, and US AIRWAYS. What's that about 7 arbitration decisions? R U KIDDN ME???? THat's the problem, even though there isn't even a new TA, you guys are not even enforcing the current one. Hell, you have hundreds and hundreds of grievances and you decide to waive off time limits and stick them in the Bermuda triangle where they disappear for YEARS.P. REZ said:Tim,
The toxic environment is being created by you. You are the master of division and will not be happy unless the soap opera dysfunction continues. I would wish you luck but that would mean disaster for the membership. I do hope that some day you bury the hatchet for this membership's sake.

And you don't even follow the district bylaws. When was the last time you punks gave all the local chairpersons a quarterly grievance report showing the resolution/dissolutions? Disappointing indeed.
I was responding to your post to Tim. Obviously I have not ran for any union positions as I am not a union member. Elections are part of the democratic process, Tim ran and put forth his own efforts to get elected. It didn't work out so he has moved on, why haven't you?700UW said:Never ran for one. So how many union positions have you ran for and won?

Why don't you ask my GCC if he is kept in the loop regarding grievances and if he believes we have a black hole here? I constantly communicate with the GC and SS's. PHX has an arbitration scheduled this month and another will be scheduled soon. We also have 3 cases that will be heard in Mediations in March. 5 or 6 employees, maybe more have got their job back since I took office and several not terminated because of the GC and our team effort here. Many other write ups and issues resolved too. I'm not saying things are great here, but we fight this management team every day. I assure you that anyone that has ever been in a meeting with me here will attest I am not a mouthpiece for management but a mouthpiece for employees 100% of the time.
