The alliance is not going to change the structure of the IAM nor the TWU.

Neither group is large enough to support its own district.
That's the problem though. Every airline and classification should have their own district/local. That way, you truly are being represented by your own people. I never was a fan of the IAM structure because of that.

I agree with this even if it takes being in the same local as mx

Ramp and Maintenance are in the same locals at most stations, they aren't in the same district, most IAM locals are amalgamated.

I guess I should clarify:
Under the IAM, everyone should be in their own district, but share a local- that part I got and was good with. But that fact that I shared a district (DL 142) with WN customer svc/res, and CO FAs didn't sit right with me. Why should I get a say in who they have representing them? Or why would they get a say in recommending a CBA (via the eboard)?
Rat- I think you still agree with what I'm saying, just wanted to clarify the local part. When I was TWU before, we were in the same locals (they don't have districts) as ramp, but that changed shortly after I was hired. Ramp then had their own local, and mx had their own.

united  if those are accurate  it shld not come as a surprise given UA strong holds of LA  SFO IAH DEN ORD IAD and CLE   Not sure how big UA is in MCO  but then JFK and PHL are hubs for the new AA
MCO is a "split operated" station with sUA people there. That's one of the stations that supposed to be opened up and the vendor that does the legacy CO cities gets the boot.

I'll be voting next week (6/18). And for obvious reasons I will vote the U4C ticket.

Why does the IAM need a three tier structure? No other union in the airline industry at least operates that way. With the IAM the vast majority of your dues go the GL, some to DL and hardly any to LL.

They have the numbers, and that's all it comes down to. That's why you guys should be looking for your own district, just for US fleet. I also think the mechanics should be looking for their own district as well.
The UA members have the numbers by far within District 141. Maybe, instead of the slate being named "Unified for Change", it would have been more appropriate being named "United (UA) for Change". Not that I blame the members at UA but it's tough to guage if these are the wishes of the members at US; concerning the candidates for the US positions. Inherent flaw.

Well PHX was one of them. This is the first city that is being insourced via the contract (LOA#6). Some of the CLE people are going there (ramp). Wednesday was their last day in CLE. The rest who accepted the move are going to SFO. I wish all of the CLE people luck.

PHX; PDT; MCO; SAN; SEA; TPA; LAS; DCA; JFK; HNL are the ramp cities where there are split operations. Those are supposed to be insourced. I think that LAS and MOC will be opened next. But they probably be saved for the stations that will be closed soon. But who knows. I think that transfers are still blocked till they find homes for people, like they did the CLE people. CLE was an expedited case so they opened up PHX (17 spots) and the rest for SFO.

End of the first quarter.

It's been quiet on both sides.  All the talk is over and happened before the election starts.  The clock is running, so the U4C, and I'm sure Delaney's team is focused on the voting.

3 more weeks of voting. U4C is ahead but there is a lot of voting left.

Does anyone recall if there was any discussion whether the negotiating team was asking for Retro pay back to the end of the Contracts duration; December 31, 2011?
