No disrespect to you sir but you don't have a pony in this race in respect to retro pay!!
 
Our union lost our health insurance grievance because they were inept when it came to writing bullet proof contract language.
We have now paid the cost of insurance as the Company dictates so Amtrak and US Airways are apples to oranges.
And while I'm on the subject of dictating. Parker dictated that he would increase "your" pay (TWU) if you would agree to facilitate an expedited single carrier status. He did it on purpose to disrupt our negotiations and  "He" told you in advance what you are worth. He dictated it not your union. Your Union signed off. 
From what I heard in our meetings in our break rooms, and Charlie Brown can chime in if I quote him wrong, they said we would accept no less than the $23 that Parker offered your group.
That chaps my a$$. I buy and sell kids/ big kids toys on ebay, and I never would put in my add "I want $500 but I'll take no less than $250. I'll never get more than $250!
 
With that said, I expect $23 and no more as dictated by Parker as to what we are worth when our TA comes back.
Everything we had was taken away in bankruptcy. We have nothing that amounts to an offset in respect to retro pay.

Morally sure I'd like to see an opportunity for BOTH sides members to get back to work. People Tim, not union affiliations. Personally though I could give a Rats (gluteus maximus) I have tons of time here in MIA. Over 600 full timers below me. Hell even the cuts in the BK didn't change my days off. So try again.
On your second assessment, uh duh. Of course I want to get into JCBA talks. Stupid is as stupid says Forrest. Together we're going to be a lot stronger voice for achieving further gains. But in case you're trying to imply that I have a modus operandi in regards to you guys, absolutely I do. The better the contract you guys get the more I get in 2015 and beyond. Again duh Tim.

Tim when I look in the mirror only one guy stares back at me. Unfortunately most I work with don't even have a clue that what you guys get affects us. Blissfully unaware sheepies mostly.

One step at a time on those joint talks kid. I want to see you guys make some great gains actually of course. In my perfect world soon I would hear that you got a TA bringing you up to $50 per hour immediately keeping all contract language. I have no class war jealousies man.

I believe once I read your TA that I'll see a pretty decent raising of the bar. I'm sure no matter what it is you won't buy it though. Your pattern is a straight line that what's ahead is easily seen.

You should probably wait until the full details are released before you rant personally.

But let's take your retro scenario into consideration using AMTRAK as an example. It took almost all the unions on the property near 8 years to finally secure a contract under the recommendation of a President Bush PEB. They did receive full retro but also the PEB recommendation said the workers were underpaying for their medical.

So in the end they got a retro check near nothing at all since they had to reimburse the medical cost to AMTRAK. And to get to that point AMTRAK stonewalled and stalled them in the process for a grueling 8 years.

Most people under the RLA know the AMTRAK story all too well now and it was a hard story to learn.

Correct me if I'm wrong; but didn't the same thing happen with the UA contract? UA agreed to pay retro only to significantly raise the employees' monthly contribution on medical. I've spoke to members at UA in my station who were paying next to nothing monthly. Now with the new contribution rates; for family coverage you contribute in excess of $400.00 per month. When you do the math that retro check will evaporate quickly. Once it does the members are still contributing at the new rate. Long term; you've lost money.
