How SAD is that, that you have a better experience on another airline then your own.

It's no longer of any consequence. The tiny and fully delusional little minority clan of rabid "saprtans" in PHX no longer much matters in any aspect of the bigger picture anymore.

I've jumpseated very little with west crews. It hasn't been worth having to put up with some of their comments and rudeness.

Then there was the AWA captain who asked me what equipment I flew and I answered, "The 767." He responded disparagingly, "Now, that is the little one, isn't it?"

You're a far more patient man with "village idiots"/complete fools than myself Brother. 😉 Honestly?...I do admire that. For myself?...I've always found it VERY difficult to ever "suffer fools gladly" = "How many heartbeats and breaths do I care to invest/waste on this pathetic azzhole?" For decades now, the answer to that's been mostly none. The only reason I waste time here's in the obviously vain hopes of EVER getting some uppity "spartan" punk to accept a flying wager. It's occured to me that would provide a "seen by the world" example of their pathetic BS, and thus; some impetus for change....but the obvious likelihood of that ever happening before hell it's self hosts it's at least 4th winter olympics is clearly nill...cowards are as cowards do, so I suppose that I'll go to my grave somewhat befuddled there, as in: exactly WHEN did it even become at ALL possible for complete wimps to be incorrectly perceived, in even any twisted corner of the world, as supposed "Pilots"?

Welcome to the "Brave New World" of "mommy bought me my "pilot's" license...umm..."pilots",  one must suppose.

Seriously: If I threw you insults aplenty, "yo momma" in any/all conceivable variants, and then fully accused you of being a complete pussy/Coward unless you took up a flyng wager; you would be all over doing exactly that in a second, if not sooner, and with the immediately expected "Oh Yeah?...YO' Momma too jerkoff!" We're/It's ON!" response..... I just do NOT understand these utterly pathetic PHX/"spartan" kids.

I just see no reason to return slights in kind while at work. Believe me, it has been hard at times. There was worse, but I don't care to list them on this forum.

Fully agreed. To do so would both diminish us as people and be woefully and inexcusably unprofessional.

Umm...I do feel that free-range "spartans" on the internet, and best yet; if ever accepting any real life wagers, are indeed my fair game though. Outside of airports and the traveling public, of course.

No matter really, since for nearly 8 full years now...I've seen nothng more EVER from their pathetic posters than internet "heroics", and I've no longer any honest hopes that will ever change. A more perfectly self-defined little cache of completely pathetic little pussies I've never before seen anywhere else in my entire life...and I'm not the least bit kidding about NEVER before seeing in over 6 decades of life now. These "spartans' have provided a rather uniquely clinical case study. I'd first assumed it to be merely and issue of Arrested Development, but that falls somewhat short of fully explaining the whole "spartan army"/Fantasyland thing....There's deeper sickness evident in their "righteous" crusade.

It's all provided an interesting study.

You will never understand because you must have a value system that is not centered on YOURSELF.

One of our pilots pointed out today the qualities which kept this group united against the USAPA threat also brings us together to take care of our own.

I have so many people to thank that finding a starting line is difficult.

As many of you are aware my daughter had a Stroke the night after thanksgiving while we were at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital tracking down a fever that would come and go. That night our lives were forever changed and a journey we never anticipated began. Her story is one that is both hard to hear but at the same time wonderful to listen to and some day should we sit over a beer I will brag to you about what an amazing 13 year old girl I have and what a ferocious fighter she became. As of this writing she is home, attending school part time and working hard in three a day therapies. Learning how to walk and talk again and bringing life back to her right side, we have no reason to doubt a near full recovery. This note however is a start at thanking you for all you have done for my little girl...

“West Culture”, “Original Cactus”. I have proof that this is a real thing. A powerful thing. I can talk about my daughter now relatively tear free. Where it becomes difficult is when I talk about what my fellow Pilots did for her when she got sick. So hiding behind this key board saying thank you is really one way for me to be able to even tell the story, uninterrupted by me.

Her stroke happened late on a Friday night and by Saturday morning the Cactus Culture had already begun to come to the rescue. Although much of the next few days remain a blur, there are things I will never forget. Captain __ and his wife were there right away. They were there when I was pulled into a small room and delivered the worst news a parent could imagine . They sat by my side along with my Girlfriend and propped us both up. The brain is a merciful thing and it really didn’t let me hear or soak in what was being said. I do remember seeing his face and thinking that I must really be in some kind of trouble to rattle this giant man. But I understood one thing loud and clear. I was not alone in this. This became clearer as time went on.

My phone buzzed for three months straight starting that Friday night. Message after message from Pilots I know to Pilots I’ve never met. All wanting to help in any way they could , all genuine and and all heart felt. Many of these went unanswered by me not for trying to be rude but mostly by being completely overwhelmed. To you I must say that these messages were like power pills. The energy that support provides can not be measured , only experienced.

____ started a Go Fund Me account for her and in a very short period of time raised almost 40 thousand dollars for her. You had something to do with that as well. Your donations have put a lot of breathing room between me and the Hospital cashier . Also she is in line for a machine that stimulates muscles as she walks so she can walk. This new technology is not supported by insurance and costs in the hood of 22K. Should this be an appropriate tool for her it will have an “Original Cactus” sticker on it because you made it possible. I am humbled by what you all have done.

The support received from you was obvious if you came to her room. It was all over the walls. Letters from the children of our Pilots were taped to all available surfaces. Amazing little letters written by kids who never met her but who’s Parents, our Pilots, relayed to them. Cards from entire crews on layovers from New York to Portland to Hawaii , Mai Tai stains and all filled every nook. All reinforcing the fact that We were not alone , that this amazing group has our back. So rest easy and heal quickly, worry about nothing.

You not only donated money but your hard earned vacation time. Even vacation time over the holidays was donated. We have some very big hearts here on the west. The vacation time gets converted to sick time and even though back to work now I must use it to cover my Daughters needs should a trip get in the way. In short ,you have made it possible for her to be without nothing and for me to be ringside for the entire fight.

The food… The flight attendants formed a schedule for meals to be delivered starting on day one and pretty much fed us, and whatever floor we were on at the time, non stop. We were fought over by nurses because we had the best food constantly. We wanted for nothing. It was there 24/7. Just like that Cactus Culture.

The prayers. They worked. You had Masses said for her. You sent cards from your church. Your kids included her in their nightly praters. You sent beads blessed by your church leaders. Oils, glass figurines, crosses, Tibetan prayer cans the list goes on and on and they all worked. She walked out of the Hospital under her own power unassisted by any walker or cane and just last week got fitted for a dress for the 8th grade formal. Flash back to that little room where all the bad news was and one thing I do remember them saying is that all that was never to be possible.

The call sign may be gone but that culture born in 1983 is alive and well. This Pilot and Flight Attendant group surrounded my little girl and kept her safe and made it possible for me to sleep at night. Like “ Soldiers on a wall “, you watched over us. I am forever in debt to this powerful group and have never been more proud to be Original Cactus.

I am sorry to hear of this young girl's serious health difficulties, and I am glad to know that the west pilots and flight attendants are there to help in such deep and profound ways.

But, you must realize that these things occur to east pilot families, too, and we step up to the plate with equal concern and aid.  Compassion is not limited to PHX, and as much as I have vehement disagreement with the west pilot seniority situation, I am not at all surprised to know that the west pilots do act in a compassionate manner when the need arises.

It is disingenuous, by either side, to insert stories such as these into our seniority dispute.  I do not question the compassion of the west pilots, but I do question your judgment in bringing this story forward as a way to set yourselves above ANY other group.

I pray for the girl's health and well-being.  But you should be ashamed of yourself for implying that we on the east would react any differently in a similar situation.  We have, and we do.

My comment was made in response to an individual who is full of himself. The unity demonstrated by the West pilots is a common theme outside the seniority dispute. Btw, I donated to an East pilot's daughter's fundraiser after reading her story on this forum.

Well said. One of the hardest trials in life is seeing the loss or suffering of one your children. I have often thought that I would, if I could, sacrifice my own life for my children.

All of this talk of altruism: I certainly could not stand by and allow the ladies and gentlemen with whom I have sat side by side with in the cockpit for 31 years lose 17 years of seniority and long awaited captain's seats to people who were in grade school when they were hired. I also can never forgive the executives, ALPA officers, and MEC who took away my 21 years of earned defined benefits retirement. If ALPA had not been thinking only of the officers at Herndon, we would have had a much larger base of solidarity for such heart felt stories from our fellow pilots.

Well put, Snap you also have my prayers for your girls health and well being, family should always come first. Sounds like you have a great deal of support.

You are such an angry damaged person, so many manic posts of the same angry screeds.  You are not a well person, you have real issues, and this isn't the place to flaunt it.

The nic would do nothing at all to me personally, but nice try though. Your greed-soaked self would usurp at least a full decade of other people's worked lives for purely your own selfish purposes. Kindly explain just what kind of incredibly perverted "value system" you even supposedly represent?

The "Like “ Soldiers on a wall “, you watched over us. " is an especially ironic touch, considering your above BS.

No matter. The important thing is that "She walked out of the Hospital under her own power unassisted by any walker or cane and just last week got fitted for a dress for the 8th grade formal." May God continue to bless that young lady and her loved ones, as well as show His apparently endless patience with the sorry likes of your incredibly self-righteous, wholly narcisisstic, and hopelessly clueless sorts.
