What's new

757 ETOPS

You're not kidding....You'd of never thought that anybody or anything could TRASH the USAirways name more than our previous management did....THEN along comes AmericaWest! Who knew?
it's a sad, sad day when east employees are demonstrably opposed to expansion (read: china flight)...prior to america wORst's take over, any expansion or proposed expansion was greeted with solidarity and enthusiasm.
our product sucks; our reliability sucks; and, our image now sucks because of the westie management. when the merger was announced and the new "management" team revealed, i knew it was all over: regional idiots controlling a non-regional entity.
DoUgIe and the westie regional mentality has destroyed this airline...and, it is time to hold his drunk ass accountable!!

Wow, I never thought I would enjoy a 7dirty7 so much. Let's see...plenty of unused galley space to hide my bag, plenty of closet space for the passengers, plenty of soda and ice and believe it or not...not that dirty. I carry mu fabrice fresh lenan and am fine. You guys can HAVE that useless TA!!

If they don't install chillers, do they at least provide lots of dry ice? It seems to me a health hazard to have such things as dairy products (yogurt) to sit warm for 8 hours, considering how long they sit on the catering truck in the hot sun before they are put on the plane.

Dry ice in a meal cart doesn't even work. Dry ice does NOT cool a compartment. All it does is makes whatever is in it's immediate contact hard as a rock. The rest is warm. It's horrible. And LCC your are so right about the 7dirty7. I'll take it ANY day. The airbus is horrible and the T/A operation is so bad I don't even want to be SEEN on it. Talking to a chicky in the crewroom the other day...."Oh I have Paris in two days and back to back t/a trips with Glascow". I wanted to say oaaaaah you poor thing. Commutable? It's is laughed at by many.

How about this, we all move on and forget about the frugal flyers remarks. Back to the 757 ETOPS topic that got hijacked. The state of our 757's to Europe are absolute trash. A few new blue seats thrown in. No thought of passenger/employee ease or comfort. NONE. All the answers you get are "we understand, we're looking into it, the cost was just not justified"...blah blah blah....all bull.

Get off your high horse.

It was you who said that the crappy condition of your B757 trans-Atlantic aircraft is because management does not care about FA's.

"The simple fact that they sent these a/c in the condition they are in before a reconfig is a clear indication that management does NOT care about the f/a. PERIOD."

My reply to this was that management should care about the customer FIRST and FOREMOST. That is all.

So even if the aircraft had ergonomically designed galleys I highly doubt that it would be pleasing to the customer.

I think it would be wiser if you said: The simple fact that theysent these a/x in the condition they are in before a reconfig is a clear indication taht management DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS. PERIOD!

You are obviously not familiar with the f/a's job or the workspace in which to perform these tasks. MOST of us at least myself DO care about the customer. But to be quite honest this really doesn't concern you. Your posts also don't make a bit of sense. So post on if you must. My my they are comming out of the wood work I see. 🙄

This is how an airline that cares about it's service sets up there 757's to Europe. A galley at 2R with chillers and plenty of room for everything. Continental.

Beachboy,

CO had the galley at 2R BEFORE their 757's went across the pond. This picture is when they were still in domestic configuration.

That makes us even more pitiful. <_<

I don't care if the 757 is 'transportation to the party'...give me the A-330 ANYDAY!!!

the supervisors told us recently that they we be redoing the galleys of the USAir Etops 757's to look like the ATA 757's. they are also looking into chillers and vacuum toilets. whether or not it will happen- we all know this is USAirways! lol. just throwing it at ya.
Being a 20+ year awa employee, this will never happen. They might be looking into this, but ultimately they will be scared off by the co$t. AWA has never changed a config of any galley. Use it as is, get it online as fast as possible, and issue a bulletin noting differences.

It will never be anythng other than a dream.

Vacuum toilets: only if engineering deems it a maintenance improvement. Mid cabin lavs always have a tendency to leak.

I would like to see whoever came up with the idea of flying our old 757's to europe work a trip in my shoes. Who hates rotating the meals halfway through cooking them to make sure they are hot, then piling them in drawers only to have people telling you their chicken is cold when you serve it to them. Or better yet, being catered on time and then being delayed 4 hours and having to removed the coleslaw before serving. Who thinks this works. Give me a chiller and an oven that works for crying out loud. Give me the tools to do my job and then our customers might be happy. I just got off an ETB to GLA and had to cook the meals for 1 hour. It was a nightmare. We ran out of ice, ran out of juice, ran out of water, and everyone complained their food was cold. My reply? PLEASE WRITE A LETTER AND COMPLAIN! The flight attendants are not heard with this company, but the passengers are. I have now decided to make it my goal to never pick up an TA trip again.

And there is absolutely no reason that this should be the case. Every ETOPS bird is only used for TA routes from May-Oct (except for 4 wkly/DUB) so they have 6 months to make all necessary renovations. Tempe needs to realize that US needs to have a consistent inflight product, especially internationally.

As a side note, I've flown on several HP A320s and seen atleast three different kinds of interiors! -- I believe it was N644AW that had PTVs, of course they were all dark though.

I don't really want to rehash the whole FA/customer thing, but I've always heard to:

Take care of your employees so that they will keep the customers satisfied, which in turn will make the shareholders happy.

Sounds simple enough, doesn't it?

Recently, I've been doing a mostly-HP 8 leg itin and have been on a few different configurations of the HP320's and I have seen the tiny screen in F class and in Y during a walk down the aisle. Can someone venture in and tell us a little more about that? I think the nicest HP config was the Braniff interior. There is one in F where the seats have no headrest and the seats are cushiony but squeaky. They are all interesting!

No wonder they were so hot to trash our Airbuses. Sounds like thiers are terible. My friend who did time in PHX but is back now said getting back on one of our planes almost brought them to tears even after the butcher job they did to them.
