aa recall question

AA has clearly stated recall rights are a bargaining issue. APFA refuses to bargain about this issue.
Of course AA is going to say that...... Once again make APFA look like the baad guys... And do u blame APFA for not wanting to give up one red cent... it would make no sense at all.....

So if your mother is dying in hospital in need of $10.00 to save her life that makes no sense at all? You would not offer even one of your hard earned pennies to save another F/As career? Spoken like a real true through and through APFA member.

In previous posts I have been very vocal in stating that I don't believe the APFA SHOULD pay one penny. The furloughed f/as have earned extended recall...$600,000,000 (conservatively) is a pretty penny.

Sorry .... These are different times and a whole differnet world... Anyways you are an outsider looking in... Dont you want a union that protects your pay and benefits.... How would it go over if APFA came to the membership and said we are going to give up some benefits so we can recall F/As. Good luck trying to get a yes vote and further more if the shoe was on the other foot, they would feel the same way. It's easy to say" what kind of uinon memeber are you" .... "we are all in this together" ..."think of your brothers and sisters"... etc. etc. etc. got the point...

First with Nancy, that may be a great idea but I sat in the courtroom while the AA Director of Labor Relations spelled out and costed out how much it would cost AA to extend recall rights a contractual issue. Let's face it, AA management does not think like you do.

As to the above reply, "these are different times and a whole different world," implies you would not spend one penny either. I sure hope the world is not inhabited with people with your view point, I really do.

Once again and with all due respect ... you are an outsider looking in... you'd be singing a whole different tune if you were sitting next to me on the jump seat... and I really find it so unbelieveable to think that anyone would really want to give up pay and benefits to extend recall rights for 3000 plus F/A's. It would never happen !!!!! That's reality as it may be...

Let me set the record straight:

I am anti-union.

The flight attendants and pilots in this country aren't really getting much by way of their union ... except a few hundred dollars out of their pay check.

Organized labor is another suit in the board room, he's just wearing a different tie.

Ok.... just try working for AA without a union.... it would be a whole differnet ball game... I'm 100 % union... I have seen first hand what my uion has done for me... I'd be making alot less if it was up to AA ...

While I believe the APFA should not pay for extended recall, I htink they should be doing more than has been evidenced in the past 4 years. There is a move in the right direction but more needs to be done.
True unionism is more than paying dues. First and foremost, jobs should be protected, then contract, with the push to better. Unionism also means "giving".

You do not have the slightest idea what would be involved. I can tell you I'd gladly give up some amount if it would save a persons job who has been furloughed several years and who has passed the 50 year old mark and who is unlikely to have any medical benefits if they are not recalled. But you live in a world much different than mine. I'm glad most of the people I know do not inhabit that world either.

You are a bigger man than I am .... But we are in two very different worlds... people just dont think like that any more.... sometimes it's easier to voice your opinion ,when in actuality ,you are very far removed from the the issue at hand.

yup, two different worlds. yours does not sound very human to me.

Possible a different generation Bill. Sometimes it makes me feel old..lol

maybe we are just a different generation and older, but the coldness and lack of compassion for others is less than impressive.

I worked with a nAAtive ramper who got bumped out of a 25% city by some senior TWAers. According to him, these people openly and vocally expressed great joy that they were bumping nAAtives out. Sounds to me like these TWAers from the "older generation" were "cold and lacked compassion".
