American will launch regional jet service from LaGuardia to US Airways' Charlotte hub, operating five daily flights with Embraer ERJ-135s. US Airways has 11 daily flights scheduled on the route in June and Delta has three.

I hardly call running a few flights from LGA to CLT an "attack" as you describe. On regional jets, no less.

There is more to the article as AA is taking on ATL from LGA also.

I can tell you from first hand experience..

AA did this exact same thing a couple of years ago flying BOS to PIT
using the EMB-135's.. They lost their ass!!! Within a few months of
starting they pulled all but 1 flight a day and then that disappeared.

AA will lose.. Same fares and you get a choice of flying on an Airbus
or an EMB135.. Guess who will win..

AA took us on at RDU and BNA worked real good for them!!!!!!!

WOW!!! CLT has some competition. Its amazing no one has flown CLT-LGA except US since Eastern pulled out. Now we have 3 airlines offering almost 20 flts a day in the market!!! It should be interesting, if anything the consumer will be the winner.

Maybe this is an indirect response to DCA-DFW.

An article in Aviation Daily, it is a subscription based service.

Everything I have read about this says that this is mainly geared at DL since AA will be running several MD-80s on the LGA to ATL route. AA is mad about the Simplifares. I think the CLT flights are because of the DCA-DFW flights. AA will loose this battle in CLT.

I know here at RIC AA has been running 2 ERJs to BOS for serveral years and they are pulling those and leaving it US with 4 flights a day on ERJs.
