What's new

AMFA Local 5

All airlines have an ID-10T form. It's mandatory if there are any unions on the property.

Just kidding, fellas. 🙂
...and I thought only bean counters were required to fill out ID10T forms as a prerequisite for employment.

now how would you know that you pto? unless you requested one from PI and couldnt get one due to you being a scab

"We are having an affect on the scabs and many have left NWA. Others are looking for other work but are finding it difficult to get hired elsewhere. We have..."
Quick question....what does make a SCAB leave?
Keep in mind that this answer is coming from a contractor and some speculation from what I have heard from the other Scabs that have or are planning on leaving.

The number one reason is money. Contactors go on the road for one reason only and that is to make as much money as possible in the shortest amount of time. When a contractor shows up on a site he/she expects to work sixty plus hours. That simply isn't happening here plus NWA wants to drag forty hours out of a six day work week. That just rubs these guys the wrong way. I have tried my damnedest to adjust to this but it simply isn't working for me.

Vacation is another issue. Most of these guys can't tell you what they are doing a week from now yet NWA wants them to bid their vacations a year out. If these guys have time on the books they want to take it when they want and not be dictated by some seniority date. This was brought up about three months ago and again in our last big Pow-Wow. NWA says they are working on a solution but this brings up yet another problem. Things happen very quickly in the contract industry so contractors become very impatient when it comes to a company dragging their feet. It has been three months now and NWA is no closer to a solution than they were three months ago. Contractors look for results not petty pep talks.

Lies is also a big issue. When we hired on we were told that we would not be part of AMFA. Yet when problems arise that we want corrected they say their hands are tied because of the AMFA Contract. That is the very last thing an NWA Contract Scab wants to hear. NWA is having a very hard time dealing with its new work force on an individual basis, it is going to cost them.

Attendance/flight benefits. It is not very smart to chew a Scab out because he was late after bouncing all over the country trying to get back for the past 24 hours because your aircraft were either full, broke or diverted. This has happened to most every Scab here at least once. It does nothing but set up discontent throughout the entire workforce that grows into something that it shouldn't. This is just something the company needs to learn to suck up.

Housing/schools is yet another issue that a lot of the guys are having problems with. The price of a decent house here in DTW is outrageous. Some have brought their wives up here to check out the local housing market. What would be available to them is deplorable at best or such a downgrade from their existing houses that the wives simply say, "Hell no. If you want to stay here fine but me and the kids are staying home." It's then just a matter of time before the contractor hits the road again so he can spend time at home.

To wrap this up it is simply a matter of NWA attempting to bend the Scabs to its will and it simply isn't working. If NWA wishes to have a non-union work force they are going to have to learn to work with non-union people. NWA is used to dealing with sheep, union sheep that is. Give the sheep a contract bargained by their union and they will perform to that contract. It does make things really simple. They have yet to comprehend that contractors are a bunch of mavericks and has yet to learn how to deal with them. Add to the fact that they are incapable of making decisions in a decent amount of time, that by the time they do come up with a decision it is much too late.

Stop stop, your're killing me.

PTO, by this post you have definitely proven that you are dumber than a box of rocks. Did you ever think the AMFA mechanics went on strike so they could afford a house in detroit or make enough money to support their families? As for flight benefits, you P.O.S. scabs shouldn't be complaining. You're an at will employee at an evil managed airline so deal with it SCAB! Welcome to the real world as far as your vacation is concerned. If you don't like it,then hit the road dumbass! Oh, on your complaining about airline management lying to you. Welcome to the airline industry you stupid knuckleheaded pencil whipper!

😱 Can anyone actually believe this ####? What did this dumba$$ think he was walking into? Why do think we went on strike? And stop your bull. Do you not think the people who were there before knew how much it cost to live in these cities? If you think detolit is bad try msp, bos, lax, sfo, sea, jfk, lga the list goes on. All you did was screw working families, men and women with families thats all. Try sending your kid to public school in that hell hole. Oh yeah theres another $5-10 grand a year. And how about those property taxes? Or have they even looked into that? Nothing noble in scabbing. You are scum. Keep your 2 bit analizing to yourself, your the only 1 buying it. Oh and btw Mr. Ebben is a mechanic something you will never be!

I failed to mention the part about realignments this is a real big issue that has the Scabs fired up as well. I don't know who came up with this crock of shet but that has got to go.

OH MY GAWD!! I'm not even sure where I should start.

DUH!!!! Hello, McFly? Is anyone home? Why the hell do you think pay cuts and job losses sparked a strike? What did you think? That AMFA was just bored of working for NW and decided now was a good time to go away? Really, to think you actually hold an A & P with that little common sense truly scares me.

Vacation is another issue. Most of these guys can't tell you what they are doing a week from now yet NWA wants them to bid their vacations a year out. If these guys have time on the books they want to take it when they want and not be dictated by some seniority date.

They are using seniority for vacation bidding, really? Wow, an airline is using the seniority system? Quick, someone call Eyewitness news we've never seen this before.
Just for kicks I'll ask. Just what the hell were you expecting to be used for determining who gets a certain day or week off? Longest p...err largest shoe size?

Lies is also a big issue. When we hired on we were told that we would not be part of AMFA. Yet when problems arise that we want corrected they say their hands are tied because of the AMFA Contract. That is the very last thing an NWA Contract Scab wants to hear. NWA is having a very hard time dealing with its new work force on an individual basis, it is going to cost them.

NW management lied to a work group? Quick call Eyewitness news back, I've got one more scoop for them. They lied to everyone. I wonder could all these lies have something to do with the low morale and lack of trust? Nah, that's just crazy talk.

As for the AMFA contract, well I guess maybe you should've learned something other than scabbing. That is how it works, that is how it worked at CO in the 80's too, until a decertifaction vote AMFA remains the legal bargining agent and the imposed contract the new CBA. Try a google search for Railway Labor Act and read. If that's a little too tough, try Hooked on Phonics first it'll help.

<cough> bullsh*t <cough>
I'm sorry I must have missed something here. Did you really just say that it should be the companies problem that you chose to stay in your trailer and commute rather than live in your work location? Not in this lifetime scab. I commuted too, several differant times. You fly out a day early, spring for the ZED, or suck it up and buy a ticket, but you get your worthless, no good, scabbing hide in that hangar on time. Every airline has this policy so I guess it's once again welcome to the airline industry.

To wrap this up it is simply a matter of NWA attempting to bend the Scabs to its will and it simply isn't working. If NWA wishes to have a non-union work force they are going to have to learn to work with non-union people.

You really never have worked for someone else have you? As someone who has owned a business let me tell you that when I run the place and you work for me it is you who bends to my way or I will bend the exit door open and you can hit the street. There is a CBA in effect (the imposed one), there is still a legal authorized bargaining agent (AMFA), and for good or bad the liers are still in charge so get over it, suck it up, get to work on time (every time), and pencil whip those pieces of sh*t into service. You have lives to risk, now get to it.

PTO, by this post you have definitely proven that you are dumber than a box of rocks.
OH my sweet darling Princess, you just don't know how I enjoy your wonderful posts when they are so full of that fiery passion you possess. You are such a wonderful delight amongst the usual Riff-Raff posted here.
Did you ever think the AMFA mechanics went on strike so they could afford a house in detroit or make enough money to support their families?
Has anyone ever wondered why houses cost so much here? Even to build a new house here contracting it yourself costs a fortune. Why is that? Let me tell you why. There is no competition. Everyone here is union with set prices. The electricians-union, plumbers-union, carpenters-union, painters-union even the rock hangers are union. They have eliminated pricing competition up here. End result being over inflated houses that no one can afford. What is the solution? Demand more money from the companies till you drive them into bankruptcy.
As for flight benefits, you P.O.S. scabs shouldn't be complaining. You're an at will employee at an evil managed airline so deal with it SCAB!
It's just like you said Princess Darling, we are at will employees, we don't have to deal with a damn thing unless we so choose.
Welcome to the real world as far as your vacation is concerned. If you don't like it,then hit the road dumbass!
In due time Dear, in due time.
Oh, on your complaining about airline management lying to you. Welcome to the airline industry you stupid knuckleheaded pencil whipper!
  You're so lovely when your mad. My time is short Dear, how about that "hamburger"? 🙂

OH MY GAWD!! I'm not even sure where I should start.
Great post JAFA, it is late though and I must get some shut-eye. I will address this tomorrow afternoon. You Ladies and Gentlemen have a good night. 🙂

wow scabby pto, you havent even figured out what a bunch or morons there are running SCAB AIR in to a cemetery yet? I though at a different airline, can see why AMFA went on strike and I dont blame them. What I fail to grasp is why did it take you what is it about 10 months now, to figure out what a bunch of idiots are at the top of SCAB AIR then add on the shoddy maintaince personell currently there since last aug. what a receipe for a shutdown--errr errrr i mean disaster

Princess, You took the words right out of my mouth! Pto, now maybe you understand a little bit of what a contract is worth. With a contract in WRITING and signed they can't say they didnt agree to it. By the way, every airline employee is subject to getting back to WORK. Buy the tkt if need be, but we are scheduled to work and if we did not arrive for scheduled shift we wouldnt be employed. Its an AIRLINE kinda thing, not NWA. Some of us have contracts where we can afford the positive space tkt and not worry about non rev. Its nice for family who have time to wait but I prefer to relax while on vacation. With all the auto layoffs I hear lots of houses for sale. Still cant afford one? I heard they are pretty cheap these days and sellers are panicking.

What good does it do to buy a ticket on a flight that is bumping revenue passengers?
