Current Delta put in an application for ATL-PVG for the next round of China allocations. I can't remember if future Delta, I mean US Airways, applied last time they were eligible (2006). If not, would US apply now that they have a west coast hub? I know the A330s don't have the legs, but I was curious whether you all think US will put in a token application or not.

No, our management is not that pro-active.

The mighty A330 might be able to make it with a stop in Honolulu perhaps? Can the A330 even fly to Europe nonstop from PHX? If i'm not msitaken they have a range of around 5400 miles, probably a stretch to Eastern Europe.

The 332's that start arriving in 2009 could make the range.

Current equipment doesn't have the legs for China.

However you might see service there one day if they decide to do maintenance or buy parts made there........

just kidding folks....

I believe you are correct...the 330/300 would have a tough time to eastern europe, or even western europe in thw winter from PHX. I believe the 330/200 can do it. However I believe the real problem from PHX or any southwestern city to europe is the 24hr time frame. The leg is so long that it takes more than 24hrs to do a round trip allowing for reasonable turn times at each end...

Thus you would need 2 a/c to offer daily service. Twice the a/c and crew expenditures for 1 city pair...It would take a hefty demand or hefty fares or both to make such a run feasable...

There is just one of the advantages of an east coast launch point: PHL,JFK,IAD,ATL...etc

The mighty777 🙂 could do the route year round I believe, but the bummer is the 2 a/c problem...

Just my opinion...I didnt do any hard math, so a dispatcher with the right charts etc. could prove me wrong..

US will sign a deal with the Air Force and Navy for inflight refueling of a Mesa EMB145 for flights to China.

What do you mean with an EMB145?

They'd do it with a DH8

I know living in vegas I would see the BMI airbus come in. I do think it was the 330-200 though from manchester. Maybe we could get a 747 that seats around 450. Hell our management could probably get 800 seats in there at least.

HP had a few 747's a few years ago, what happened to them?

They are sitting in the desert and/or scrapped.

Those 747s were one of the reasons why HP went chapter 11.
