APFA Proposes Dues Increase

The APFA is just as deceptive as the company as far as I am concerned...
The only unfortunate part is that they have decided to ask for a dues increase during this country's worst economic crisis in our lifetime..this after years of the workgroup giving back....
It will only cause division within our workgroup which can only be good for the company. Great going APFA...

BTW has anybody else received the petition to change to another union? I have. Haven't signed it though...

These are the salary numbers for Pres and Vice president of our union from 2000-2008. Secretary and Treasurer are similar. Taken straight out of the LM2 form the union website. So for all of you saying that they took a cut too, well either you are lying, or the numbers are lying. Look, I'm all for getting as much as you can get, I left the names of the officials out because that is not the point. The point is they did not take a cut. The numbers don't lie.

How has APFA cut expenses to meet its fiancial goals? It does not appear to have done much. Is APFA trying to get back the furlough pay it gave away to AA for free that effected junior AAers and TWAers? And APFA expects people to pay more dues?

Doesn't really matter if we got a new union. The same people would run for office so they didn't have to work as flight attendants. Good people with 'no experience' who were tired of the nonsense would try to run and the people in office would set out on a smear campaign to make them look stupid because they have no experience. Nobody would vote except the same people who believe the 'no experience' nonsense and we'd be in the same position all over again.

Then do not expect much from them. And do not expect any raises in dues will change the contract you get. The contract you get will depend upon the ecomony for the greater part what AA believes it can give you. Nothing more. but maybe less if they can negotiate that. You can pour dues money at the negotiations, but AA will have set goals not influenced by how many experts APFA hires. A big waste.

And what APFA can squeeze from the company is diminishing by the minute, along with our economy and growth prospects. Laura better lock this thing up quickly.

We were told the same in 93 as the economy was in the tank and the current economic environment was although not as dire as today, not great. A contact is negotiated to span a spectrum of time where the industry, as always, passes through cycles of losses and gains. Through industry experts and other means, both sides have to realize that negotiations don't take place in a vacuum, but capture the forecast through the life of an agreement as best as possible and find middle ground based on that assessment.

And the company is loving this ....... but remember we wont be in this situation forever. There will be a time when AA is making billions ..... it's called the airline cycle of life. In the end AA will have to sign a deal that makes everyone happy. Been there done that !!!

LM2s are very deceptive. They include items paid for in the course of doing union business. It is very much like saying the avarage f/a makes $75,000 because they include the cost of hotel rooms, benefits, et al.
