AUG/SEPT 2012 US Pilots Labor Discussion

I have a baaad feeling that's exactly what they're going to do. It appears that the only way to get the east pilots off of LOA93 is by dragging them away as they're clinging to it, kicking and screaming, ie APA takes over. Oh well, guess there is nothing to do but kick back and enjoy 2004 for a few more years. By the way, why do you want to move to Davidson?

You lay that at the east pilots feet yet all 3 PHX reps voted to not even send the MOU out and 2 out of 3 voted to put a NO recommendation on it. So, what's the deal with that? Did they drink the water in USAPA headquarters? West usually goes 180 from east. You guys seem to want this merger as much or more than the east, so why the no votes from your reps?

All is takes one whiff of Bojangles and you're a gonner!

An Opinion.......My fellow airmen, What we've all been through at this outfit is a long story that doesn't need repeating here; we've all lived it. This MOU is an insult to that history, and the many sacrifices made by every airman here. To be fair, Mr. Parker was not here for most of it. The majority of our pain was felt about when he was still sharing his cubical with Mr. Horton. Well there's no better time to educate Mr. Parker on "history" at this enterprise. I grew up with a saying ,... "standing up for yourself doesn't necessarily have to be confrontational". While this MOU does make my blood boil, a simple "NO" vote will send the perfect message to Mr. Parker, and Mr. Horton. (I'm old and cynical enough to believe that Mr. Parker and Mr. Horton might just be playing "good cop - bad cop" with all parties concerned; and we shouldn't fall for it.) This deal might happen , or it might not happen. Having a contract with our pilots is not a requirement for this deal, period. Just listen to Mr. Kirby, he's said that very thing, on several occasions. So what's the rush? On a personal note, just what the &*$@ did the "negotiator's "negotiate"? This entire MOU stinks of a hastily thrown together piece of rotten meat thrown our hungry way. Well I'm not THAT hungry. I will wait for a proper meal from MGT. The table 's set. How will I vote? Calmly, "NO thank you". Just one airman's

Opinion......I don't know what Hummel is up to or how the Professional negotiator and the other two attorneys could possibly recommend taking this. Regardless, lets focus on educating everyone on why they MUST vote it down and send it back till they get it right. So far everyone seems to understand this is one POS. I can understand the company wanting it but I can't understand the negotiating committee going along with it?

Just turn it down in a BIG way and send Parker a message. Remember, they are pros at fear tactics and we still have a bunch that are pushovers.

WoW.....
Gary, I really worked my ass off for you to try and get the CLT vote for you when you ran and you embarrass me with a MOU that even a bankpurt judge would dismiss WAKE UP!!! This is no game we hold the cards We tell Parker if he wants a merger it is ON OUR TERMS or NO MERGER!!!!

That sentence didn't end with a preposition. It ended with an ellipsis. Be that as it may, the answer to more concessions is still the same.

Nice!!! Most people have an "apex" of their career. I'm going to start calling this the "ellipsis" of mine. (ellipsis intended)

OK, I hear you. That is your opinion. Many of you seem so sure of what will happen when we send Parker this message.

What if you are wrong?

What message are you going to send round boy?

ON OUR TERMS or NO MERGER!!!!

That is probably the most dillusional statement you've made so far. Legally, Parker can cut off all communication with USAPA and this merger will perk along just fine. The APA pilots will do the negotiating and will get the term sheet at the POR. LCC pilots on the other hand stay on their respective contracts until such time as a JCBA is negotiated. Those are facts. You are making a guess.

 You think this is an ellipsis? Just wait.. If we vote in the MOU you can see the mother of all... <------ ellipsis.

I will pose this question: Can USAPA actually "blow this deal up" if the BPR can't endorse it?

It seems a pretty important queston to ask. If the BPR or those opposed cannot in fact stop the deal from happening then that is a totally different question for this pilot group. The leverage is not in Change of Control, it is in stopping the merger.

If USAPA has a nuke, there are those who would to use it or at least threaten to use it. What if what we really have is just a "lady finger", or a "bottle rocket"?

I would like someone to tell me how USAPA can stop this merger. What are the actual steps to be taken and what is the actual estimate for success? I believe that this quetsion has not been vetted properly. Do we get status with the Bankruptcy court? How much clout will we have on captitol hill? Will the company be able to line up enough supporters to get the deal done despite USAPA?

Do the combined carriers have enough cash that they can do it on theri own? I seem to remember that this is in excess of 6 billion in cash in the combined AMR / US company.

I for one would like to know that the threat of derailing this merger is real before we play that card.

If you look at how this all started, you'll notice that USAPA wasn't told about the merger until a bit later.

You tell me where you rate our standing based on that.
