I have a friend from my previous job who turned down a job at Piedmont two months after I got hired and went to work for AWA.

He's in the top 150 and has been a Check Airman for 15 years.

I had two AWA pilots in my new hire class.

Tough guy, explain to everyone how you were hired at piedmont.

I will help you. Your daddy paid for your college, paid for your flying and got you the job at piedmont. Do you deny this sir? Do you deny your pappy took the lump sum retirement when he got word the pension was on its way out?

Just answer the questions. Say hi to mommy for me.

I did not say everyone. Just everyone who wanted a job at a major and did not have one. You know, like the 1800 furloughed AAA pilots?

Further, I did not say AWA was my dream job. You said that. But, I have said and will say again, I never wanted, applied or sought to work for that POS airline where you worked. That fact that I have to work with former AAA people since my airline bought theirs, well, that is okay most of the time, then again I have to put up with the scab union antics.

"So here’s Max and I trying to slither off to our apartments through this rather unfriendly group of Federation pilots with their wives and kids. Well, that’s unfair. The pilots and children were actually fairly civil. You could talk to the pilots. Their wives, however, made their run-ins at the waterline. Fortunately, there weren’t too many of them.

I suppose they were experimenting with the tactic of making themselves look pitiful. They dragged their children around with them and planted them in front of you if you tried to move.
Well, what can one say? It was an interesting technique, but you could tell that the kids would really rather have been someplace else at the time.
In fact it was kind of hard to keep from laughing, but with 50+ of them and two of us there were some subliminal inhibitions against it.
Max and I figured that the worst thing we could do, from a long term standpoint was to cut and run, so we just stood our ground. I noticed, however, that Max had his case of beer in a leg lock and was rapidly rubbing the ink off of the cardboard with his ankle."

Real funny scab america west pilots, you showed those wives and kids, scabs.

If the merger fails, I don't think there will be an immediate mass exodus. Where are they going to go? Virgin? Spirit? Allegiant? Yeah, right. US has its problems, but it's way better than those places. I do agree there will eventually be one though. Once Delta, United, Southwest, and Alaska start up the hiring in a year or two. If by then there is no sign of a new contract, then yeah, you'll probably see the bottom pilots on the west and the east gone. That is unless USAPA accepts the Nic and moves on for a new contract. We all know how that's going. Baring that, management will be more than happy to keep the east on LOA93 and since apparently the east isn't hurting all that bad, it will be status quo. I'm just glad I've got several thousand 121 PIC, so I should be marketable, once the hiring kicks in. Who knows though, maybe the merger will go through 🙂

Bean

Yes, you would be marketable, there is a demand for cherub angel models. Scab.

Pursuit of the Nic, of course! It makes grown men salivate more than May West ever did.

Ah! Understood now, although, wherever self-styled "spartans", "knights", "dire wolves" and even "larry potta" sorts are concerned, all "heroically" engaged in a gallant crusade against the very "Force of Evil" it's-own-self...well...we'll just have to allow for some differences on what properly defines and constitutes "grown men." 😉

Aww...cut him some slack. One need only quickly (to prevent induced indigestion) glance at just the tie alone to understand how much pain and suffering that poor fellow's clearly dealing with in life.

"PSA pilots will not chase jobs East."
"More planes than God can count."
"Most guys will retire at 62, 63, 64.........never mind"
"They will never get enough cards"
"The senior 737 guys will leave before they will go to AB school."
"Nothing can stop the AA/U merger, nothing!"
"Junior guys will quit in droves to get hired on the bottom at DL and UAL"
Excepting the Easter Bunny and Santa rumors, anyone have any more of these "truths" to add? RR

"Big announcement on Friday."

The East pilots will take the PBGC at 60 and keep on going. That will be the raise.

That is truly a huge gamble on their part.

If someone on PBGC ends up on LTD, the first question they ask is, "Are you receiving PBGC benefits?" If the answer is yes, that pilot has just given the company a huge gift (which, I am sure, is something he/she always wanted to do.)

Indeed, my appogies for slandering grown men!
