AWA ALPA Thread week of 9/21--9/27

While I appreciate all that Junebug does for helping to right the wrong, there are many pilots (East and West) that understand the injustices of ALPA that are merely compounded by ALPA's latest abortion, and they will vote for USAPA simply to remove ALPA calculating opportunists from the equation. They recognize the impossible loyalties of ALPA that will not result in loyalty to pilots at any airline. Even some of the most vocal opponents of USAPA have freely acknowledged the calculating predatory nature of ALPA.

There are extremist on both sides that aren't helping the matter at all, but in the end, a new union that is unmolested by the need to satisfy pilots at other carriers will allow for cooler heads to prevail and enable an even minded majority to adopt reasonable solutions that everyone can and will live with to move the employees in the right direction to make the company prosper.

It is inevitable. No union can endorse opportunism and survive.

Very well stated.

Junebug & AWA320 keep up the good work! Apparently, even McIlvenna understands the damage you are causing.

Regards,

USA320Pilot

Nah, he's just trying to make sure everyone is realistic about things, thats all. JM realizes that pumping everyone up with illusions of grandeur isn't the best tactic. All along, the west mec's overall message has been steady if seemingly wimpy and stodgy. Meanwhile, the east is all over the map, changing daily, yet never lacking in bluster.

I for one appreciate JM's tone, although I do disagree with him about the timeline for a possible TA.

Question.

If the East does not go back to the JNC table, who will negotiate on any modifications to the Nic award in terms of possible fences?

Probably ALPA National will... That's my understanding.

P.S. Was waiting for the hotel van yesterday and saw an EAST crew. Said hello to the FO and he NODDED. Getting into the van said "how is it going...?" to the Capt, another NOD with a BIG face... They were talking among themselves with a few degrading WEST comments. Got off the van at apt., wished them a nice day, and another nod. Later saw the gray hair FO had a sticker on his flightbag saying "NO WAY AWA!" At least the FA's were friendly and even held the door open for me  Finally a happy family!

What you witnessed, skyrat, is an individual chewed up in aviation allowing an imagined injustice chew up their life. Life can hand you much worse than being an employed major airline pilot in America.

Wow!!..You got all that from the simple fact that they weren't jumping all over themselves just to give an AWA a big kiss? Cut 'em some slack = no lynching occurred  I'm thinking you might want to cut down on the Dr Phil time.

"allowing an imagined injustice chew up their life. " Hmmm...What could you even possibly think might be "an imagined injustice" around these parts?..the "imagined" part I mean.

No, it is not imagined.

Sounds a little like when we were merged. As the East Crews would walk down the concourse in PHX. Most of the AWA guys and gals would not make eye contact or would turn their backs to the East crews. Sad how it destory the AWA workers home life as well.

No but sadly I did send in my $200.00 toward the movement to file suit against USAPA. I hate all this litigation but it seems that it has become an necessary evil. See ya in court though :(

Here is one way to look at it. You are betting wiith the house and against it as well.

You are paying the AWA fund to fight it

You will pay the USAPA dues and accessments.

Either way you will win and also lose

No BF, I wouldn't pay USAPA and neither would 1800plus of my AWArothers and sisters. I would however tie USAPA up in litigation helping to bankrupt you in short order...

Interesting = You've blown $200 thus far to attack a union that doesn't yet exist, and, according to the vast majority of all the AWA earlier stated opinions, will never exist? Is this just some insurance/sucker bet for you then?

AWA320' I wouldn't pay USAPA and neither would 1800plus of my AWA brothers and sisters." Really?..

"A never ending source of amusement"

That is your choice but you will lose your vote and also be fired.

No BF you are again wrong I would certainly not be terminated!! You see just as I explained to your leader USA320, you will not be successful in the first place and even if you were there is no way you would get management to invoke agency shop. Now if it were just me I would somewhat concerned if it were just 10 or 20 of us I would be concerned. It's ALL OF US BF, 1800 plus pilots and Douglas will in no way damage his own pockets for the sake of what would be a failed union right out of the gate.

Now let be be even clearer seeing as how you and a small group of others feel that you can change contract and award. You can not period end of story. BF if it were that simple don't you think that pilot groups all of the land would just change union representation every couple of years to get out of agreements?? C'mon man, you claim to be old and all knowing while insulting us in the west about our age yet you behave like spoiled 3yr olds!!!

The only thing you will succeed in doing is hurting your own group with more LOA 93 for yrs and yrs. Parker will never negotiate with a looming law suit as that would be throwing good money after bad. Wake up man!! The best thing for all is to get some money before the economy heads south AGAIN!!

Wow! I have personally escorted East crews to the Crew lounge at A24, have had professional and respectfull conversations while Me on their JS or vice-versa. While in OPS in PHL, or for that matter LAS, have had decent encounters with Easties. Always go out of my way to at least say hello.

If they choose the INMATURE and childish behavior so be it! I am fine with that! And will never lower myself to act like that.

And in another subject, enjoy your LOA93, or come to the table to negotiate!

Sorry but your Wrong again. USAPA will be a agency shop just like you have today under ALPA.

Only thing heading south is ALPA. As to the LOA 93 that will be handled by the USAPA guys. (in a couple of years or so) ;) /quote]

Well good then lets end this east begging for parity and stop placing the figures to date in your hotlines!! I am now certain that you don't need or want parity and that your current LOA93 is just fine for as YOU put it "a couple of years or so"...
