So yesterday a fellow FA said she had gotten a letter in her box. According to her the letter said we are going to a biz casual look. I have yet to get the letter. I was just wondering if anyone else had see this letter. I really hope it's true.

I haven't heard or seen anything. I would love to have new uniforms, but what is "biz casual look"?

That should be interesting. I wonder how it's going to look like? I've been gone on a holiday and haven't checked my mailbox yet.
We're due for a new Uniform allowance next year and it would be stupid to order the old uniforms. I heard it's going to be minimal change in order to save $$.

If it's going to be a business casual look, I wonder if they are going to remove the ties and eppaulets. I think it would be okay for the women to not have to wear a tie or eppaulets and just go wear a nice white blouse, but for men....A no tie look with eppaulets in the summer looks stupid! We look like bellhops! I think if we're not going to wear ties in the summer, we should have a nice business polo shirt that has a nice polished look.

Hopefully there are some adjustments made in the area of uniforms. ALL female employees need to be dressed like FEMALES (the prison guard/ turnpike tollbooth collector look is very demeaning).....most women I know what to act and dress like Ladies. Eliminating the neckties for the men (especially the flight crews) will represent a sloppy, poorly groomed carefree attitude. (Stylish turtlenecks and/or crew neck sweaters would be acceptable but keep in mind NOT all body types should be wearing those fashion pieces.....if you know what I mean). If USAirways plans on retaining its Int'l presence, NOTHING but Suits and Dresses will do........the public expects it and anyone that flies those routes KNOWS IT! Dressy casual is one thing but until I see what Donna Karan, Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren have to offer, save the grunge/tacky/casual look for Southwest. Many of the LCCs have decent uniforms (Spirit,ATA,flyi,jetBlue)....just don't bring that swa look HERE!

I saw a crew in Delta's new uniforms the other day. I was so jealous and sad, wondering what "the world's largest low-fare carrier" will come up with.

This international concern is a bunch of hogwash!! I don't know what TA flights you guys are on, but Biz Class looks like coach. The only difference in the two classes is the see thru curtain seperating them. Besides some snooty, arrrogant EuroTrash executive, nobody gives a crap about whether the guys wear ties or if we are biz casual. Right now we look like trailor trash out there so ANYTHING will be better.

Also, I for one and sick and tired of sacrificing a nice uniform for the fat and old. They're gonna look horrible in anything they where. Why punish the rest of ? And please, don't give me the insensitive jargon about gaining with age or thyroid problems. We have guys and girls who are obese and need to get a grip. You were not hired fat and these f/a's need to develope some self pride. I say this as a 43 year old who FIGHTS to keep weight down, so there are NO excuses..just FAT, LAZY snobs.

Dump the ties. Dump the tabs. Bring us a nice thick..good quality long sleave/short sleeve shirt with a sharp flag logo on the shirt and mock crew shirts for the winter. WE CAN BE BIZ CASUAL AND LOOK GOOD.

NOTHING but Suits and Dresses will do...Business class does not sound like suits and dresses to me.

I don't know where the "business casual" thing came about from the letter someone supposedly received. No decisions on uniform changes have been made yet. Busiiness casual is the corporate dress code in corporate offices, flight centers etc. But not available for Inflight. HP has done away with ties for men and women if the person wearing the uniform chooses. This is only effective for a few more days and was based on the intense heat on a/c without APU's that could put on cool air. Most agree that with the current uniform shirts, the look without a tie is fairly sloppy at best, although comfortable. I would not be surprised if a more casual approach is achieved, but I think you will find it be minor changes and nothing in line with WN.

New uniforms would be nice. US-east uniforms are not that attractive. what is buz casual? girls shouldnt have tabs or ties- but maybe a scarf. i think if the guys lose the ties, they wont be taken seriously or as a professional.

I think I'll go work for your airline. Let the old people look like camp counselors at the low class carrier. Old people will do anything to be comfortable. Except, that is, retire and let the younger people who actually want to dress and act like a crewmember for an international airline have a chance. Just because some people are old and fat the rest of us shouldn't have to suffer.

People already laugh at US Airways, now they are going to send us around the world in something MORE casual? My last flight had some fat slob with a mullet, no tie, no undershirt, and a food stain on his huge belly. He did have a belt on with a cell phone hanging off it. Classy! Yes, let's let him wear a polo so when he sits in the last row the whole time with a Automobile magazine, no one will even know he's a cabin crew member and bother him. 🙄

^ what is biz casual? Take a walk in downtown Phoenix or uptown Charlotte any weekday and you will see. Better yet, simply walk into a Bannana Republic.

It's fine with me as long as we look professional. Nothing more embarassing than walking through a big European airport wearing the blue polyester with the likes of ultra-cheap Ryan Air in a better, more attractive uniform than a "legacy carrier".

"his huge belly."...does AWA have weight restriction for cres members?

I saw a crew in Delta's new uniforms the other day. I was so jealous and sad, wondering what "the world's largest low-fare carrier" will come up with.

Important distinction: The new U is billing itself as the world's largest LOW COST carrier, not necessarily the same as world's largest low FARE carrier.

Whatever... it's tacky. Fares speak for themselves, next is your product. I fail to see how "low-cost" is any kind of brand or something to be proud of. Why do they have to put it on those banners and stuff? Just to advertise to the world that no one here makes money? It's embarrassing. You can be low-cost without bragging about it.

The real "low cost carriers" have defined products, whether it's Southwest's down home, relaxed attitude, or JetBlue's modern, hip business demeanor. US Airways is still a major network carrier with a large transatlantic network and major presence in the biggest business centers in the nation. I don't really see where the "casual" thing benefits anything.

The new US Airways is closest in network to Delta Air Lines. After they emerge from bankrupcy, they too will have lower costs and perhaps a merger. But they are upgrading thier product right now while US dumbs it down.

I was excited that US might finally find itself a brand to go with somewhere between JetBlue and Continental... simple, consistent, and classy. Instead it just seems like there isn't really going to be a brand at all, just act low cost and they'll come. I just think it's all really misguided.

I read the letter provided to LGA-based F/A's. New uniforms are on the way and there will be an official announcement in the not-to-distant future, although no date was provided.
