They say they are losing $10 Million a year on the route, I wonder if Virgin was the nail in the coffin.

I wonder if the deals on JBLU, and, the agreement between AA and JBLU on services out of NY and BOS aren't the self tapping screws inserted by Centerpork after the LCCs breached the legacy fortress hubs.

With JBLU having switched to SABRE, Garton moving to take the reins at AE, the current TA's for the TWU allowing unlimited ASMs at markets jointly served by AA and AE, and the TWUs' propensity for retaining dues to subsidize both their lifestyle and that of Centerpork: the only nail Virgin will be driving will be the one she's riding ;-)>

This all has to do with our agreement with JetBlue. AA will fly the route once we buy JB.

When I first heard about the agreement between AA/B6, I thought it wass just thaat it was just that, like AS ect. Then I read that the current mucky muck, head of Continental had been at United in the recent past, then as we know the same thing at DAL/NWA , one of the guy's from Delta went over to Northwest to run it. And former AA's Brundge is at the head of JetBlue. Maybe he is getting things in line for something bigger, than selling tickets, and transfering bags.

Anyway I'm sorry to see SFO-BOS go away. My Dad would fly on them as a retired NWA pilot at times in the winter on them SFO-BOS-SFO, and said just about each time they had to make a fuel stop, he then said forget that even thought it was only $25, he said pax's were furious at the stop, he was in shock that they would use such an A/C with limited range, for this wasn't the occasional S-80 fuel stop from RDU or BNA to the west coast we use to do or the SJU-LAX, and D2-on us-AA, if he could get on.

Thats called wishful thinking I.M.O. . I doubt VERY seriously AMR is going to be buying anything or anyone. I don't think it's a codeshare either or it would have been announced. I guess it was just losing too much money. I suspect you will seemuch more of this until AMR, gets its costs in check. It is going to be hard for them to compete with UAL AND DAL. Then be in the most inferior alliance on top of it.

1) Jetblue's CEO is Dave BARGER, not Jeff BRUNDAGE. Barger used to work for CO, NOT AA. The only former AA'er of any significance was Russ Chew, who was their COO from 2007 to 2009.

2) Jeff Smisek, current CEO of CO, has been with CO since 1995... No UA on his resume.

3) SFO is a hub for both UA and VX, and BOS is a hub for B6. VX and B6 have all the pricing power in those two endpoints. Fighting to be the fourth or fifth place player in a relatively thin yet crowded market probably isn't worth it when there are opportunities in the "cornerpost" markets.

Sorry so wrong on the info, but you got that right-United has a great hub in SFO and they are well liked and respected in the bay area!!!. There was an article out not long ago saying that soemone who, I don't know ,came from UAl to CAL, I think it was in the same article that mentioned that UAL/CAL were talking a while back.

More of the "Retreat not Compete" strategy AA espouses. Ignore anything not covered by the "Four Corner" strategy.

Jetblue flying SFO-BOS after "We buy them"? Really? When has a simple interline agreement turned into a precursor to a full on merge?

Missy Latham: "Our customers have told us rather than connect through overcrowded hell holes in Chicago and Dallas they'd rather fly the competition so we're letting them do just that!"

Your Funny, It's so true about Missy Latham, and "Our customers said bla bla" !!! Do they-AA, know we ask the pax about this and tell them what they suposedly say, and they think AA is nut's. They laugh at what AA say's they say.

They laugh at what AA say's they say.

Unfortunately I suspect enough former AA passengers have said that (or something similar about price) - not with their mouths but with their wallets by going to the Jetblue or virgin counter.

As a commuter living in New England, it's getting harder and harder to non-rev on AA out of Boston. Most of the time, we just end up buying tickets online. I'm just wondering if Boston will remain a hub for very long or end up being a satelite base of LGA. Best of luck to employees based here. Transferring to LGA was the best choice for me even if it means commuting.

I think the answer for the future of BOS was written when Arpey signed the check to build a billion dollar terminal in JFK.

Whatever it takes to make that investment look as if it were paying off will be done: if only to insure the multi-million dollare bonuses continue until the insurgents either breach the capitol defenses or island hop the perimeter and starve the residents out.

Either way, the elites have long since moved themselves and their assets away from conflict while the rest look like the poor SOBs trying to catch the last ride out of Saigon:
