Can Hillary lose with grace?

that had I not sacrificed my vote -- perhaps my world, my country, never would be the same.

May God and his faithful servant *JOHN McCain*have mercy on my soul.

Well, my strategy did not work, but no matter...

McCain swept Virginia, Maryland, and the District

I'm sure that his numbers would have been at least 5% higher if the beltway was not closed for three hours. Polls were opened 90 minutes longer by court mandate due to the crazy ice we have here, but many people still could not make it.

I voted for Hillary Clinton today.

I thought it would be easy. The strategy was simple, really.

Hillary cannot win the general election. Obama, in my estimation, can win the general election. Because of his political beliefs, I do not want him to win. Accordingly, I voted in the democrat primary today for the sole purpose of helping Hillary win Virginia, and hopefully give life to her floundering campaign.

The problem was that once I was there -- I felt dirty -- in a not so sexy kind of way. Sure, I have voted for democrats before -- but they were people I knew, and respected, and people who held jobs where integrity and competence were more important than the large national issues over which those people would play no role.

But here -- here I was holding the democrat ballot in a primary before what will almost certainly be the most important election since 1980. This is an election, for the soul of our country. It is an election about a return to the failed policies of creeping socialism. It is an election about Federalism, and the role of the Courts -- with 3 or more Supreme Court seats likely to be filled. It is an election during a world war that we must win, even though some urge surrender.

Yes -- this is almost as big as the Mets and Yankees.

But I did it. With my hand shaking, my voice quivering, and my solid judgment wavering a bit -- I colored in the Hillary line. I saw Obama up there -- and I admit I was seduced. I thought, well, as long as I am here, I should really vote for the better democrat. No sir, I fought back the urge to vote with some purity, and I remembered that I must help Hillary. I must get her across the finish line. She must win now -- because she cannot win later.

As I drove off to confession -- following my long hot shower -- I wondered if my world will ever be the same. Then, of course, I realized that had I not sacrificed my vote -- perhaps my world, my country, never would be the same.

May God and his faithful servant *JOHN McCain*have mercy on my soul.

Keep pedaling the fear BS and the Dems will win by even a bigger land slide. I agree with you on the courts. There more than likely will be a few seas opening up and the last thing we need is more right wing activist judges who are willing to allow their POTUS to do what ever he wants. Had you bothered to even follow the new for the past couple of weeks you would have learned that so far over 20 million Dems have come out to vote. From what I have read, in 2004 only 16 million Dems came out to vote during the primaries. They already have 20 million as of last night and still have several states to go.

The republicans have done more in the last 8 years to help the Dems than all the free advertising in the world could do. It would appear that the back lash against W, Cheney and every other republican will be quite strong. The repubs had Congress for 10 years and they screwed it up like the dems never could in their wildest dreams.

The only thing the republicans had was "security" and no one buys that load of crap anymore. Especially since well over 2 million homes have been lost to foreclosures, oil is at an all time high and Iraq is still a cluster screw up. You half wits backed the wrong horse and hi killed your parties hopes of regaining power for a long long time.

BTW, the primaries are not over. While Clinton may have hit a rough spot, I would not count her out. In all likely hood, this will go to the convention. I do hope Obama wins the nomination. It would be quite satisfying to see the final nail put into the republican coffin. You guys have been so bloody arrogant the last few years I think they need to be taken down several notches. Perhaps your party will learn to keeps it's nose out of my personal life and return to its roots. Then again if you keep going for religious fruit cakes to lead your party I will not hold my breath.

Well Garf, abortions are still legal and homosexuals can still infect each other freely at bath houses, and in some states same sex marriage is recognized, so wheres your gripe?

...Besides The 'CROSS' and Iraq, whats got you all bent?

Ya pissed because you don't pay enough Taxes?...Check the donation block!!! 😀

Since I pay good money for the Washington Post, I try to read it sometimes...

Historically, the party NOT in power has had far greater turnout. That has not neccessarily correlated in actual wins. For instance in 1988, the turnout in the Dem primary far outpaced Republicans. The Republican party ended up nominating a guy that was seen as a moderate. The base complained for months and there was a lot of talk about Republicans being divided. To make things worse, the Republican nominee trailed by double digits for months.

Sometimes we have a tendency to think things are the most...whatever it may be...right now. But a lot has happened in this country. Politics is no more nasty or dirty now than it was 100 years ago (probably much less so)...and the party that has the most turnout in the primaries doesn't necessarily win.

(Not that I'm discounting the momentum and the issue advantages Democrats have. Dems have an excellent chance at winning in November, but not because Dems are getting a bigger turnout now--I think its fairly meaningless).

Credit to David Freddoso over at National Review for the numbers and the analysis I post below:

In the open election of 1988, 23 million Democrats voted in primaries, as did 12 million Republicans. Yes, you're reading that correctly. Nearly twice as many Democrats voted. That was a precursor to President Michael Dukakis' election.

In 1980, Democrats actually had an incumbent president, who was challenged by Ted Kennedy. Republicans, meanwhile, had a competitive primary between Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Democrats cast 16.1 million votes in their primaries that year, compared to just (corrected) 12.7 million for Republicans. We all know what happened in Jimmy Carter's second term, don't we?

The only times Republicans have outnumbered Democrats in primaries in the last 35 years were 2000 and 1996 — both years when Republicans were sick of being out of power. Even in those years, Republican turnout was only slightly higher than Democratic turnout.

That's where the Democrats are now — they are sick of being out of power. Plus, they'll probably still be choosing their nominee in July, so expect their advantage to climb. Their turnout is higher, just as it always has been, it shouldn't come as any surprise.

By historical standards vis-a-vis the Republicans, Democrats' turnout this year has been no great shakes, even if it is going to shatter the records in the numerical sense. Or maybe Republican turnout has been slightly high. But it's no surprise that more people vote when their primary actually means something, is it?

According to Dave Leip's Election Atlas (an extremely useful tool, by the way), Democrats' total vote this year is just over 19 million, plus 500,000 caucus-goers. The Republicans' total vote is just under 13 million, plus 350,000 caucus-goers.

For Valentine's Day, I baked you a fruitcake  View attachment 7177

Access to abortions is being limited state by state. The courts in some states are a breath away from banning it out right if they can figure out a way to get the USSC stacked in their favor. Gays still do not have equal rights under the law. Habeas Corpus has been eviscerated. The EPA has been hobbled. And the list goes on.

I disagree with the NR analysis of the numbers this year. I have a hunch the out come of the general election will be quite a bit different from years past.

She can't win Bears, she's gonna loss her arse in TEX-ass.....you heard it hear first!!!!!!

Hillary losing more whites and women

Not sure why anyone would go out on a limb these days to make a political prediction. McCain should have been out long ago, Obama never had a shot either and yet .... There are to many people not reading the script.

Personally, I hope Obama can pull it off. I believe he will be far more successful than Clinton. Unless someone pulls a land slide victory on the 4th, I say it will go to the convention and then it will start to get interesting.

Jesus,....."12",........stop "sounding dumb",.............because you're CERTAINLY not !!

With the convention needed to produce a Winner, It's ridiculous for ANYONE to predict what will happen.

And knowing the Clinton Machine, I'm quite SURE that THEY realize that, as well !!!!!!!!!!!!

That is pretty funny!!!

For like a 60-post stretch you didn't say anything but "Hillary will be the nominee for POTUS."

In fact, I think you even said that it was so easy that even a child could predict a Hillary win. Who knows, you still may be right; but if I was a betting man, I would be putting my $$$$ on Barack.
