CLT-PHX/CLT-LAS

In fact, when marketing screws up, a flight is overbooked and sloughs off paying pax to secondary carriers like SWA. Case in point, SWA shadows our LAX/PHL non-stops (4 to 5 per day) by 20 to 30 minutes. USAirways fricking supports those SWA flights just from the over-bookings.

Most pax are reaccomed on other US flights or on other network airlines since we have eticketing agreements with them. Reaccoming on WN is not the norm.

Southwest only has 2 LAX-PHL nonstops a day and overbooks their flights too! :lol:
 
People often confuse a full flight with making money, they are two different things. Hub to hub are some of the lowest yielding segments. Bottom line is airlines try to make money not fill flights.

Umm, with all due respect, I must call BS. Price CLT-PHL or CLT-PHX and say what you just said with a straight face.

Or CLT-PIT (focus city) or CLT-BOS. Or PIT-PHL (pre WN).

I agree that full flights don't make money. To suggest that US hub-hub flights don't is just plain silly at the fare levels being charged.
 
That is what I was trying to say. I understand that LAS is primarily a leisure market but there are MANY business people on the flights than ever before. Conventions are more popular in vegas than most other cities these days. It's THE place to hold your convention. The fares that are advertised are few. The old folks and gamblers on the junkets are NOT the crowd flying. Well maybe on the slow days but not daily. I guess I just feel that there is no reason to cut a 5th 757 from PHL or the 4th from CLT as they did some time ago. Fares are NOT relatively low between LAS and our east hubs. Even our hub to hub fares on the east coast are high as stated.

Agreed, but most people on those flights are not flying just CLT-PHL or CLT- PHX. They are flying BDL-CLT-PHX or CHS-CLT-PHL or MCO-CLT-BOS or TPA-CLT-PIT. That trashes the yields. If people purchased CLT-PHX, that would be different. They are not.

Again Trav, remember that we are down a bunch of 757's due to lease expiration and the ETOPS reconfigurations. Would this have something to do with a loss of one LAS flight?? They had to cut somewhere, and it is, after all, only one frequency. B)
 
yeah, and I can quote even lower fares in other markets. However, when I was traveling to LAS almost weekly a year ago, I was paying $800 or more to fly there. I love how people quote one low fare and think that the entire plane pays peanuts to fly. 🙄


And I love how some people quote their LAS fare of a year ago to try to make a point <_<

HP is flying the one 757 route PHL-LAS. The 7AM LAS-PHL turns around 4:15PM PHL-LAS, HP will have 2 flights now on the route. I still don't understand the 2 early flights from PHL-LAS,1HP, 1US within 10 minutes of each other. 1 of them may be better put on the 10am bank.

Also the 2 red eyes from LAS to PHL, are they generally full? I try my best to stay away from them flights. Besides being a red eye, getting out and having to drive home during the morning rush commute, isn't all that fun.
