I'm not to sure about that. "Team Tempe" has been pretty "successful" at operating two separate airlines and making nice profits in the meantime. They wrote the book on this process and dragging out another merger for a few more years, would save them a "guaranteed" Billion $'s or so in labor costs. Hard cash beats "operational synergies" anytime.
I do think this deal is going to happen pretty soon, but one contract with pay parity, not so soon. The company has already filed the appeal of Judge Silver's ruling to the 9th , how long will that process take, including the appeal to the SCOUS?
More like several years before we are all holding hands and enjoying our "real" airline paychecks. I hope I'm wrong, wouldn't be the first time.
