What's new

Delta Labor Relations thread.

And not saying that part (RR) should not lead down the road to full time employment but, from a business standpoint I can see the benefits as well, blame part of it on ObamaCare but, from what I understand, during a downturn, much easier to not call PT help vs. laying off a FT employee.

And once.again, if your RR and the road to FT doesn't look good, it might be time to look elsewhere for FT.

Don't believe there is a right to FT employment......yet!

And before the naysayers start bashing,.I've been there and have not spent my entire working.life at.DL!

Blame it on the Affordable Healthcare Act?

Where do you dream up this garbage?

DL had RR way before the ACA was law of the land.

Simply unreal.

Maybe the ACA will be a preventative from companies wanting to employ more FT employees? I'm not sure how thorough the studies are on that yet. Solving that problem could be Socialized Medical but that's another topic altogether.

If you notice I don't talk about what Union people might like or not like. What I talk about is "Employment Contracts" I think everyone in America should have an employment contract that not only protects them but yes also the company that employs them. When you hired on you did sign an agreement with Delta that guaranteed them as much as possible their rights to let you go if they felt the need. That agreement puts no value on what you contribute to the employer and what you have to offer. Maybe you offer your mind and your education and maybe I offer my back but either way we both have offered the company something that they earn revenue from or we wouldn't be working for them.

"And once.again, if your RR and the road to FT doesn't look good, it might be time to look elsewhere for FT."

Without a contract how can anyone know what their road looks like? If Delta had nothing but 100% RR then they would know. That's it. That's all you're going to get. But when you have a group of people around them that make over double what they do with benefits again it's that carrot on a stick that keeps them plowing the field in the hope that maybe one day they can eat that carrot.

Are they fooling themselves that they're ever going to get that carrot? How can they ever know?

Delta Flight Attendants, IAM Score Major Legislative Win

As IAM members from around the country mobilized—including Delta Flight Attendants—the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) scored a major political victory yesterday by including in the Aviation Innovation Reform Reauthorization Act of 2016 (AIIR) an amendment that would mandate a minimum of 10 hours rest for Flight Attendants.

The IAM—the largest airline union in North America—and AFL-CIO transportation affiliates, worked tirelessly to include the 10 minimum rest for Flight Attendants in the AIIR. If ultimately signed into law, this change would significantly reduce Flight Attendant fatigue, a major safety and quality of life issue. Pilots currently are covered by a minimum of 10 hours rest.

“I would like to thank every Delta Flight Attendant who made their voice heard on Capitol Hill yesterday and demanded that Congress do the right thing and improve the lives of Flight Attendants,” said IAM Transportation Department General Vice President Sito Pantoja. “You are part of the IAM family and together we will achieve many future victories. Well done."

The AIIR, or HR 4441, will now go to the full House and the Senate for an up or down vote. If approved by both chambers of Congress it will then go to President Obama for approval into law.

“The job isn’t done yet,” continued Pantoja. “We must remain vigilant and keep the pressure on because there will be continued opposition and indifference to our efforts.”

You can thank your union backed and supported Obamacare for that.

And don't give me your tired and lame excuse about "self insured".

They still have to comply with many of the ridiculous mandates made in Obamacare.

Then why does a company larger then DL have better insurance, less cost and lower deductibles?

That would be AA.

So try again, DL is self-insured, so dont let the facts get in your way.

There you go again with all your lies.

And you wonder why you and your IAM are failing at DAL.

Lies?

Only liar is you.

PMUS and PMAA have better insurance than DL, less costly and less deductibles, those are facts.

If you say they are lies, then refute it, but you cant and you wont.

Which of those mandates do you find "ridiculous?"
