What's new

Delta Labor Relations thread.

All unions had to remove their LPPs or AA would not purchase TWA, so their choice was job or no job

Did they even call AA's bluff?

AA also had a choice:  TWA or no TWA.  IIRC, the decision to purchase TWA was a kneejerk reaction by AMR to UA-US.  AA wanted TWA, perhaps even needed TWA at that time.  So it doesn't look like that there was nothing to bargain with.

There was no bluff per William O'Driscoll who was the PDGC of 142 as they were in talks with Miliken and AA.

Hindsight's sure 20/20, no?

At the time, it seemed like a smart move.

Then came 9/11...

Says the non-DL employee, non-IAM rep. Go peddle your crap, elsewhere!
Why do we always end up going do this road?

It always sends with "well you don't work for Delta" or "Shut up and leave" with you guys. How about learning to have a real conversation?

Or efficiency.

Or both.
Or normal 2016 functions.........

Facts are facts, trying to obfuscate the truth doesn't help your argument.
Facts are facts........
and clearly you don't know what a fact is.

A fact is not a statement that is paid for by a union or an anti-union site/blog whatever. So yes, it does matter if the statement is paid for.

I have yet to see Kev not accept fact. The problem is you clearly wouldn't know a fact if it kicked you in the head and it is funny that you are saying things Kev wont do when generally you don't do them yourself.

I must have missed when this became an AA labor thread.

Do you have a real point? It can't happen again and anyone with half a brain cell can find relevant negatives about trade unions in this industry. You once again show that you are just reaching.

something you always complain 700 does. Be careful tossing those stones pete, you might end up hitting your own house.

So Southwind, Pete.......I bet you guys love this video right? Want to explain the good this is doing Delta employees? Pete want to use the same excuse and (lie) say TechOps is "bleeding" like CVG? Anyone?

sure looks nice. Oh and they are getting into the MRO game in 3Q or 4Q this year. Sure that will be good for the real TechOps employees.......

Not sure if you noticed but, HMV's have been gone for awhile now.
And your right, what's to stop DL from closing shop?
What's to stop AA or any other unionized company from filing BK and getting rid of half of their unionized employees or even going out of business?

AA didn't need TWA except for ego purposes.  They thought that the United-US Airways merger was a sure thing, and AA would no longer be the largest airline in the U.S.  They, of course, would not admit this, but it was the reason they went after TWA.

Nice to see other airlines adding maint. hangars as well this year...

Absolutely. Sure would be nice to see some places (re)open for the ramp as well...
Which hasnt happened in how many years?

How much as been closed or reduced since the merger?

Wow you really make the idea of filing Bankruptcy super easy when currently all 4 major carriers are pulling in record profits. I guess they don't have to abide by any "means" test in your world or go through Section 1113 if they file for Chapter 11?

Don't think any of these airlines have a Chapter 7 coming up anywhere on the horizon if that's what you're barking up.

Couldn't tell you; nothing's been opened since the merger...
No written agreements in place to compel them to. If there's not some kind of cost advantage in doing it, it's not going to happen.
