Holy Crap. Obama is going to get to nominate a new Supreme Court Justice.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, a tart-tongued champion of conservative interpretation of the Constitution, has died at a West Texas ranch resort, government officials said Saturday.
“While our opinions on the law and jurisprudence were frequently at odds, he was steadfast and true to his beliefs during his tenure,” the number-two Senate Democrat, Dick Durbin of Illinois, said in a statement. “My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this time.

On a side note I love this. If this had happened during the first 4 years on OBAMA's Presidency I think he would have chosen a moderate replacement to appease the Pubs?

Oh but now. I think we are going to get a Judge so Liberal that soon enough they'll be smokin Doobies in Airplanes and you'll be able to marry your Dog if you want.

You seem giddy over this. just like all the other liberal a-holes on twitter right now.

Pathetic.

You do know that there is no way in hell a confirmation will go thru before Obama is out.

If you do then you're on drugs.

The President nominates someone for a vacancy on the Court and the Senate votes to confirm the nominee, which requires a simple majority.

Who holds the simple majority in the senate?

114th Congress (2015-2017)
Majority Party: Republican (54 seats)
Minority Party: Democrat (44 seats)
Other Parties: 2 Independents (both caucus with the Democrats)
Total Seats: 100

No kidding. Wow you are just too easy to rope in.

It also places Republican Senate Majority Mitch McConnell in a delicate political position. The grass-roots of the Republican Party are already in open revolt against the party leadership in Washington — that fury is one of the factors behind the rise of outsider presidential candidates like Donald Trump and conservative Sen. Ted Cruz. So any decision to permit the confirmation of a Supreme Court Justice appointed by Obama could send destructive political forces tearing through the Republican Party. There was no immediate comment from McConnell's office.

I'm not giddy about this at all. I'm ecstatic. It's the same feeling I got when I heard Bin Laden had been killed.

I'm so elated that I'm leaving now to enjoy a Steak and bottle of wine.

CELEBRATION TIME BEGINS NOW!!!!!! WOO HOO.

Nope

U.S. Senate leader McConnell says wait on replacing Scalia

Did you know that Scalias father was a Facist? I couldn't post the picture because the file was too large. But wait for it. It's coming.

And?

What does that have to with anything?

Oh nothing at all. It's actually a good old fashioned solid racist ideology. It fits many with the Southern mindset quite well.

May I suggest you read Mein Kampf though since it's coming available.

You'll love the author. He hated Unions as well.

You have the habit of doing that.

Talking a lot, and saying nothing at all.

I'm just trying to communicate with you by mimicking your way.

Throughout history when people from advanced civilizations met a race that hadn't advanced yet this is how it was done.

Perhaps your species is incapable of reaching any higher capacities?

It's a shame.

Moronic and sophomoric. A shining example of today's education system in the US.

There's also the issue that the last time Senate Republicans decided to dig in their heels and refuse to confirm someone they thought "too liberal" and the time they decided to shut down the government instead of passing a budget bill, it backfired on them.  Turns out the American people weren't nearly as dumb as the Republicans thought.  The voters did not blame the President for the vacant seat on the court nor did they blame the President for the government shutdown, they blamed the people who did it--the Republican Senate and (in the case of the budget) the Republican House.  Given how little they have once again accomplished in this Senate/House term, do they really want to risk the wrath of the voters again?  It cost them some seats last time, and they don't have a big majority this time around.

Good points. Especially if Obama decides to pick a moderate as he actually probably should.
