there was another suicide in CLT he was furloughed or about to get furloguhed.
Lavman,

Are you sure on those details? I have spoken to a number of Hangar Mechanics that witnessed the ordeal that led up to this individuals firing. He was a working Mechanic...and considering his shift , he was pretty well up the senority list.

I was also walking out of the hangar lobby the following morning , only to see a handfull of CLT Airport Police awaiting this guys return...then to escort him off the property. Senor Evers was there waiting too.

All accounts I've heard , lead me to believe that this guy had some real issues...and has had a history of issues for a long time. One can only assume that those issues finally hit a boiling point of no return. He did in fact jab a fellow employee with a cleaning pole...then throw an absolute fit in front of everyone , this is inclussive of communicating loud obscene verbal threats. (frankly that doesn't get it..and it should not be tolerated.)

I was told that this fellow was given a chance to apologize for his actions...and all would have been forgiven and forgotten. He elected not to do this. (His fault , not the companies on this issue)

Many of those that I have spoken to about this , knew this guy well...and most expressed concerns about this guys stability for some time...and the fact that he was an avid gun collector only increased those concerns when two and two add up to four...as it did in this case. I would say that his regretable suicide was the lessor of possible scenarios that many invisioned. I guess he couldn't live with the consequences of his actions?

My concerns are for his family at this point.

usacrew3,
I agree! Like you said, being senior does not make one a good flight attendant. A qualified Purser/CSD program and removal of the ITD fence would be wonderful and align us with the other carriers, not to mention improve service overall and SAVE MONEY by having a single division and set of reserves. This management prefers to just furlough to a point where it has no B scalers, hellllooooooo...
I wonder if this management even knows what a CSD is. I'm sure they didnt have them on Continental Express.

What color is the sky in your world????

My morale dropped a few percentage points after I read a copy of the preliminary contract between Usairways and Mobile Aerospace dated 9-1-03 with regards to them overhauling the Airbus fleet. Somehow the contract made it to the floor. Very interesting reading for a company that is supposed to be negotiating in good faith! From what I read there is a substantial penality for A/C that miss the ETR. Sounds like there will be a good amount of pencil whipping going on........

That is indeed very sad about that mechanic in CLT. As someone who has mental illness in there family, I feel for this guy's family, and my prayers go out to them. As for Lavman's take on it, his rantings on this board lately show he cannot look at any subject without a jaded viewpoint.

i'm sorry but has anyone from the union made comment on this or is it a bogus document....i'd be cautious ....i don't know either way so i have to wait for some kind of confirmation.of course,if you wish to believe.....

WOW! I haven't visited this board in quite some time, and I can't believe what I'm reading. From an ousider looking in it sounds like things are coming apart at the seams.

To all my fellow airline employees, I sincerely hope that brighter days are ahead for USAir. I can't imagine having to go to work everyday with morale this low. Thankfully it has not got to that point at UA, yet. It sounds like US made a deal with the devil by bringing in Siegel and a loan shark like Bronner. I never thought I would see the day when people wish that Steve Wolf were back.

I've recently had quite a few code share passengers who have said that they have noticed a sharp decline in their travel experience on US. After reading this thread I believe them.

Unlike certain other posters who used to go to the UA board, I would never come to your thread to antagonize the good people of US by repetitively pointing out what I "know" your problems are, and how I "have reason to believe" your future will unfold in disaster. No matter how insightful I think I am, that would be in poor taste. I think everyone is aware of the challenges facing our respective companies.

I only offer my sympathies to you for being treated so badly by your management. And I wish all of you the best of luck navigating through the choppy waters.

FLYONTHEWALL....Man your frat brothers are really dissapointed in you. The word on the street is that you are to be pitied. Leave the office and join the real world, because your comments make you look like a stand up comedian...and a bad one.

767jetz,

Life is not much different over here (there?) at the 'Lazy U'.
Get your butt on the floor once in awhile before your aligator mouth gets you in trouble.

JMHO,
(USAir Friends, Don't mind 767jetz, his personal frustrations [as is 'Chippy']
tend to be a bit dramitic.

Do what is right for 'YOU'.

Jeezzz!

Leave it to you to take an honest post and twist it into something sinister.

Frustration? And you accuse me of making inferences? Hello, pot... meet kettle.

I don't think we ever met in person, so I doubt you are qualified to assess my frustration level. (Which by the way, happens to be vey low. I'm quite confident UA is pulling out of the black hole.)

Also, for your information, I have not crossed words with ole' "you-know-who" in a long time, nor do post here on the US board.

To all: My previous wishes of good will were sincere. Good luck to us all.

No, there's no morale problem here. And the Dodgers are still at Ebbets Field

This reminds me of a question I ponder from time to time, and that is "does a dumb person know they are dumb?"
