well put MiAAmi.....why dont we put this topic to bed and move onOh Yeah AASTEW we should unite together as a company not Flight Attendants agains Management or Pilots against management or any workgroup against anyone. You seem to be an expert on unity. Maybe try to work out a fair plan for everyone and we can all UNITE

"Unite together as a company" That might have worked before the concessions.

Its like a rapist saying to his victim afterwards "how about being my girlfriend".

I can not believe you would stoop so low to use an analogy such as rape. A rape victim has no choice in the matter. If you are a flight attendant you had a choice in the concessions. You chose JW as your leader and put your fate into his hands. You had a choice. You need to apologize to every single rape victim that you just made light of their tragedy.

Coop is right, I commute and bring Oatmeal Bars, Zone Bars and Instant Oatmeal for sustenance. But after eating this straight for 4 days, you can run out. I bring a cooler when I can plan ahead, but being on reserve in a commuter city at Christmas just doesn't allow for these niceties.
On another note Mike, I agree with you most of the time, but I really think you like to stir the pot at others. Unity remember?
[post="233176"][/post]

No siring required. I am nothing more than opinionated. Unity is fine as a union organization. But to support stupidity, cannot do it. Anyone who claims to be on a flight with absolutely nothing to eat is stupid. What else can they be? For example CDG when we stayed at the airport and had a chance to buy a box lunch at the hotel before we left. What happened? Most crew members, rolled the dice and hoped we had a gate and they could run in to the terminal and get a sandwich. Which cost more, had less in it, and tasted 1/2 as good as what the hotel was offering at the time. Then complained, Brilliant!

I am sure eating the same oatmeal and such over 4 days would suck. But would that or could that really happen? Could you really be on a sequence that had no time for any other food for 4 days?

Fly with me I am always cooking something up there food flight or not. Roast pork, chicken or steamed fish and fresh vegetable. I refuse to without. I work very hard on my body not only working out but eating right and smart. I can get away with the candy and other stuff in a pinch. But I have yet to work a sequence or trip where I couldn't have my food, and restock in some way shape or form. Maybe I am just motivated to and that's how I do it. I don't know. I just know I have never had a problem with starving on a flight or sequence. I am fully prepared.

I carry no more luggage than anyone else. Its me my 22inch, my computer tote and my lunch tote and my water bottle (yea I bring my own from home). So there is no problem with excess luggage either.

Good for you, Mikey on the rations, but be careful on the instant oatmeal and sodium. Some of it is loaded. A sodium overload when you are food-deprived is not good.

Sorry about the thread drift, but it can be a consideration.

Mike,
Christmas week I was assigned t/a's everyday. But b ecause of the delays at Jfk we were delayed every flight. We came in 4hours late evry night, by the time i got to my commuter hotel, everything was closed. I did have my food, but honestly there was no time as we were on with the customers the entire time. I literally ate oatmeal and zone bars for five days straight. But the good news is I lost 4 lbs!
Happy New Year!

Who made light of anything?

Get over it.

We were all raped by these greedy airlines.

Mikey,

Look at the SLT and ORD domestic bidsheets...I bid 2 leg turns for a reason.

Take some of your own advice - get over it.

Your absolutely right! I could care less if I take a delay because I had to get something to eat. Its been 2 years now without crew meals whats the big deal about planning ahead or making time for yourself to eat.

You are where you want to be and do not understand what we are talking about.

How is RSV in MIA these days? Missing the "Lost Tribe" yet?

80 of of us out of the rotation, I wonder how many of you are on RSV because we are gone...hmmm...

I appeared on the back-up list for RSV last month for SLT (the ONLY time in my career)...I held it off and will frame the pages because I will never see it again.

I was hired as a F/A in 2000, and appeared on a back-up RSV list...do the math.

Until TWA comes back (and they will), I have it pretty good here,

The semi-senior people are flipping out. 15 years doesn't mean crap in DFW or ORD. For once the Junior people truly do not give a ####. We've been dictated to for so long. It's really the best revenge.

p.s. keep packing that meal

Bob, you really are an a$s sometimes.

Trying to compare workrule and pay changes to one of the most violent forms of crime is a new low, even for someone as terminally bitter as you.

Nobody has forced you or anyone else to continue showing up for work since April 2003.

So, in your own words, "get over it."

Better yet -- make room for someone else who'll be more than happy to get their recall notice.

Well 15 years doesn't mean crap at JFK either, or DCA-I for that matter, but you know we still get alot of crap!

Take care coop....

Well you are an a$$ all the time.

By the way there are more violent terms used here often such as killed, slaughtered etc but I've never seen you complain about that.

Hey AAStew,

DCA-I is a bit of a no-brainer but JFK is pretty shocking given the last proffer there. It went pretty senior for a formerly junior base.

I wonder why so many would leave domestic only to have to serve Reserve?

Maybe the flying is better on the 3 months you are off RSV?

LGA has a better bidsheet than SLT but there is a better cost-of-living here and 1 airport.

I've chosen to stay in SLT until my recall to MIA happens (which at this point, appears to be NEVER).

I like the base (but not the flying). I could have transferred to LGA, BOS, or ORD...I stayed here.

I've flown some of ORD's trips and they ARE UGLY. SLT seems to be a backup RSV pool for ORD.

The BOS bidsheet has deteriorated so much, I wanted to cry. It really used to be a "Princess" base. I couldn't believe what I was looking at.

I am certainly not going to transfer there to fly the same crappy trips on AVBL for TWICE the cost of living.

For now (until TWA comes back), I hold a line and live cheaply. When TW comes back, I go to AVBL which is what I would probably hold at any other base (except LGA...3 airports, expensive crashpads and inter-airport transportation, etc. NOT worth it, BTW).

I also regularly fly 95-100 hours per month and don't pay to pick up due to the heavy commuter element at this base (It really is about supply and demand). All I have to do is fly #1 and turns. Another no-brainer...2 legs a day with 11:15 between trips or these horrible 4 legs monsters with an FAA minimum 8 hour layover, block-to-block.

If I get recalled to MIA, I am going home and will figure out how to supplement my income otherwise. I will be on DOM AVBL forever.

Take care and fly safe!
