Discuss amongst yourselves. 😀

Its hardly surprising. Is the 941 a typical system monthly average, or is that high as well?

Being lucky enough to hold it off. I am at home with a cold. This is the 3rd year in a row. I end up catching something from someone else and spend my holiday coughing with a fever.

The 900 is about average. I am sure by the 25/26 we will hit the 1800-1900 mark like every other year. Until this company started to actually enforce an attendance policy company wide, nothing will change.

Mikey, I remember that you were sick last year. I hate it when people are intimidated to show up sick to work. This happened at TW often. Take care of yourself and try to have a Merry Christmas.

Its the also the guilt effect of calling off and knowing someone else has to go out to cover your spot. A couple years ago I was on the day trip GRU, when I finally decided I was to ill to go it was about 4 hours before departure and couldn't see someone getting the Xmas morning call from scheduling. Was an empty flight so I just created my self imposed leper colony at 1L.

No one should have to do that. Sorry to hear you flew sick

Ah, I survived. Besides if I called in I would have been home sick eating what was left over in the fridge and feeling guilty someone woke up thinking they might be off and got the dreaded call.

God I hate getting that call. Not because of the scheduler, just what it represents, having to leave. I am fine on taking the worst trip, if its loaded on my schedule the night before. I can mentally prepare myself. Its that call after a day doing things and then the call at 8PM to go to GRU or GIG. Up all day, up all night. yuck!

Garfield,
I VOWED, that I was'nt going to go round and round with you, this year, over this subject....and I'm not.

Actually, I prefer our more positive approach on the "Water Cooler"

The SK/Holiday debacle will NEVER change.
Not because AA can start ENFORCING the policy harder, but because of Language that AA signed off on, in the contract that makes it a situation that AA can't Legally Win.

But one time tested old saying that I think might "soften" the Impact, would be....."You catch more flys with HONEY, than Vinegar"(meaning the brutal contracts RAMMED down the throats of APFA membership, by AA, with the great help of the APFA leadership)

Same for the AMT's, and FSC's

Thats it....I had my 1 and ONLY comment on this Issue !!

Happy Holidays

The Flight Service Holiday plan doubled the number of RSV F/As over the Holiday....
gee what a concept..?!?
I wish it would back fire but it looks like the draconian and intimidating measure will ensure a somewhat smooth operation over this period....
Its AA old school tactics..nothing new..

I dont know or pretend to know the answer. We all know up to this point nothing else has worked. Protect the operation and if it takes old school, well then so be it.

The SK issue is part and parcel to the larger problem that nobody seems to know how to solve....

Look around on O/A boards..has there been this much chatter regarding holiday attendance..?

Dumping hundreds onto reserve protects the operation yes, but compounds further the real issue..

JMO..
Happy Holidays ..

Is this a canned response? Obviously no F/A at AA is "intimidated" if the sick list has increased 84% in three weeks.

Flight Service would like to run Crew Resources, but they haven't succeeded yet. Reserve percentages have always increased in December, but I doubt they increase at the rate you state. With the current contract, there's nothing else to do than increase reserve. On AVBL, you have to be plotted on a trip by noon the day prior. Since fa's on the sick list can't be removed until 1600 the day prior, your AVBL fa's are worthless from a sick coverage perspective.

Remember when they gave away Ford Explorers for perfect attendance over the holidays? Didn't work...at least that is for crewmembers, can't speak for agents or the ramp.

What I find funny is that Thanksgiving usually goes over without a hitch, very small increases in sick counts. However, people flock in droves to call in sick to celebrate the birth of Jesus. A perfect example of the hypocrisy of the modern American Christmas.

I remember the Christmas they actually paid holiday pay, didn't theat alleviate the situation? I know we didn't hit the goal the company wanted but it was much better....?
I held Christmas off and I have been home sick also. That and my daughter broke her arm falling off a horse while I was on my trip yesterday!
Speaking with some reserve F/A's while flying, the company does nothing to help themselves. They built reserve lines with both Christmas and New Years on! Why not give a break on one of the days?
