Could anyone please advise the flight attendant group when and if we will be voting to keep in CWA? We heard in Charlotte today that it is up for referandum within the next two weeks. Will this raise our membership dues ?

Your membership dues has every right to go up - they have been the same for quite some time.

This is an Agenda Item for the upcoming AFA BOD meeting in PHX. A small dues increase is also expected.

So that means that our dues will increase if we vote to stay with CWA ? When and how are we voting ? I have enough taken out as all of us do but is there a need to continue with CWA and why?

The dues will go up more if we do not stay with the CWA. Either that or the AFA will do away with most of its services. If we stay with the CWA the dues will only increase by around 4 Dollars a month or so.

What services will the AFA do away with? They aren't helping the Pit base any. What has CWA done for us anyway? Have they gotten us FMLA or had any say in Pit base? It is all a scam if you ask me but what am I to say!

We do not get a vote on the agenda item. It rest with the Board of Directors which is all the LEC Presidents of all the AFA carriers. They each get one vote. If we pull out of CWA either we raise dues over $10.00 a month just to keep things running or we stay with CWA and get a $4.00 increase. Which one is a better option?

StraaightTalk- CWA pays for that now which is better. Before it came out of AFA only funds. And I would rather have Delta as a partner in AFA than wake up one morning to CNBC Squak Box telling me trading has halted on DAL/LCC because of a merger. It's worth the $4.00 to me anyway.

The $10.00 option if we pull out will only allow the AFA to run a small operation....no EAP, Legislative Affairs to name a few.

Is there a website we can all read this on? This is the first time alot of us has heard about it. We can't understand what the heck is going on! Aren't we a part of this union? Sound like some behind closed door dirty little secret club. Can someone direct us where we can read about what is going on with our Union. How did you find out about the money amounts?

I totally get you about the merger deal. Not a good thing to wake up to see THAT.

dexter,

If memory serves me this was all spelled out when CWA partnered with AFA. We did have a vote back then and they told us in X amount of time we could opt out. They also told us the dues would go to $42.00 which for CWA is a low average. Verizon and other CWA affiliates pay much more. It's an average and it won't go up for a long time. It cost more to do business these days and we have paid $39.00 for a long time. I don't like more coming out of my paycheck trust me, but the alternatives are scary. This was also discussed in length at the AFA base meetings of CLT, BOS and PHL last week. But then again only what 40-50 people showed? People can work that AIL like no ones business to get what they want but not to attend a union meeting that dictates thier workrules or issues. They would rather trip improve to see the new scarf, but not discuss where their paycheck comes from.
I will look for this info and post it if I can. Start on www.afanet.org under BOD meeting.

CWA has to fund the Delta organizing drive somehow!

sky high states: MORE MONEY WASTED. Delta chose NOT TO JOIN, what a year ago? What's up with AFA National, P. Friend must be OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE. It's too soon, wont happen.
Delta's in a position to outplay AFA.
