What's new

Flight Attendants On Strike.

No, CHAOS actions have not started yet. To be honest, I'd be surprised if they do. When push comes to shove, AFA leadership doesn't have the courage to follow through with their threats. I'm sure this time won't be any different.

However, we've already seen what an effective tactic CHAOS is. By the very definition of CHAOS, we're seeing how the mere threat of selected, targeted job actions can put the company on edge.

However, I can tell you that the company is about as prepared as they can be for any type of activity. Legal and Onboard are monitoring EVERYTHING. They have TRO's ready to bring to the courthouse in the event they are needed. So the ball is in AFA's court. Will they truly follow through with their threats? They've painted themselves into a corner. All along they've been on record as saying they won't tolerate the pensions to be turned over to the PBGC. Anyone with an ounce of brain matter knew what the judge would decide. So now the pressure is on AFA leadership to either make good on their CHAOS threats or once again wipe the egg from their faces. Any guesses as to which way they'll go? I'll take mine scrambled, please!

You folks realize that if you don't follow through you will effectively neuter yourselves forever.

P.S. JungleClone- I remember when UAL ALPA said that their would be "a meltdown on this property" if the pensions were terminated. Talk about egg on the face. Where in the hell is my union?

Your union got you a "C" fund and knew that the pensions would be terminated. Where have you been?

I suggest changing the way this topic is worded , its misleading to people reading threads.

Is anyting happening out on the line? Is it business as usual? How about the rumors of reposesed aircraft?

737,

You're exactly right. If AFA caves again on their threats, they will lose whatever respect they had left, which isn't much. They have a history of making threats that they never follow through on. I would be surprised if Senior Management laughed when reading AFA's tough-talking press releases. It's AMFA and the IAM that they should really be worrying about. If you work in this industry long enough and you begin to understand the politics of union leadership talking tough publicly. One should never take such statements at face value.

I don't believe the AFA will consider it "caving in." They will say that since the judge ruled, and UA removed it's 1113c filing, the AFA was left with no legal right to strike. Therefore, they did not cave. Their hand was forced.
